Juz #18

Surah Al-Muminun: (The Believers)

  • Believers have succeeded, Certainly.
  • In this life we are constantly chasing different levels of “success”
  • In Jannah, you will not have to chase anything or anything else. Because it is the highest achievement, highest success. There is no level beyond it will, and nothing will be desired after it.
  • Those who are humbly submissive in prayers/salat, performing the 5 prayers properly, for them pardoning is guaranteed. Khusu (humility and humbleness when offering prayers) in prayers/salat can lead you to paradise, so perfect them!
  • And those who turn away from ill speech, avoid unnecessary, useless, mindless wasteful activities and speech. Those who spend their time and energy, every moment in good. Every minute of this life is a test. A test for a limited time. And we cannot afford to waste any time.
  • And those who observe Zakat
  • And those who guard their private parts. Only fulfilling it through ways Allah (swt) has made lawful, via our husbands and wives.
  • And those who take promises and trusts seriously.
  • And carefully maintain prayers throughout. The success of a believer is based on his/her prayers. We must pay attention to every detail of our prayers.
  • And those will get Jannat al Firdaus, eternally. The highest level of paradise.
  • Ask for this from Allah (swt): I want Jannah.
  • Allah is never unaware of His creation. Everything happens by His permission. He sends water, and He can take it away. Don’t take any blessing for granted.
  • A tree originally from Mt.Sinai, the Olive tree. A blessed tree, giving food and oil.
  • Prophet Muhammad (saw) used olive oil for cooking and ointments. But didn’t over use it.
  • We must use everything in moderation.
  • There are many benefits of livestock: milk, food, carriers
  • Milk that comes out for us to drink, from between dung and blood of the animal. Truly a miracle.
  • Prophet Noah (as) was tested for 950 years.
  • Enjoy the blessings but then do good too. Good food and good Ibadah/worship.
  • Consume the best, produce the best. Don’t just fill yourself endlessly, mindlessly.
  • Think about quality.
  • Do good after eating. There is deep connection between good food and good deeds.
  • One religion is from Allah (swt). But we have divided this religion into sects, sections etc. Allah (swt) does not like us to be divided. Leave people who are stubborn in their division.
  • Give, spend, and do good fast, out of fear of meeting Allah (swt). Be fearful that you have not done enough. Be fearful that whatever you have done won’t be accepted. Usually we are confident that our good deeds will be accepted. But what it they are not. Therefore do more, do it well, and do it fast. The quality of our good deeds is also very important.
  • If everything was according to our own desires, this world would be a total mess, and totally chaotic. That is why we are not in control, Allah (swt) is.
  • How often do we thank Allah (swt) for our heart, eyes, ears, etc?
  • We should use them for our benefit now, because over time they will deteriorate.
  • Do not respond to evil with evil. Do not fight fire with fire. Fight it with water.
  • Shaytan wastes our life. And when we die we will regret the time we wasted here. We will want to come back and do good.
  • When you die, before the Day of Judgement, you will be in transit. Cannot go forward and cannot come back to Earth.
  • There will be no relationship on that Day. Those who scales are heavy with good deeds, will be successful. Ex: good character, good manners, Dhikr, etc.
  • Scales that are light or with nothing on them, these people will in the Fire eternally. There the skin will be burned off. These are the ones who heard the Quran and then denied it.
  • This entire life will seem like a day or two. Compared to the Akhirah, which will be eternal.
  • Allah (swt) did not create all this in vain, for no reason. What is your true purpose here in this world? Find out.
  • Pray: Oh Allah, have mercy on me, so that I do not waste this life, this time.
  • Sometimes Allah (swt) asks you to do something you might not understand or see the benefit of. But trust it is good for you.

Surah An-Nur: (The Light)

  • Zinna is unlawful. It’s a big sin. Nur (light) of Iman is taken away from the heart. Leads to many evils and it spreads quickly. If done at old age it’s even worse. It’s the height of shamelessness. There is a great punishment for those commit zinna, even worse if done while married. Terrible consequences from it in this life and the next.
  • Fornicator should marry a fornicator or polytheist. Not someone chaste.
  • If you accuse a woman of zinna and you do not have 4 witnesses, then you are lashed with 80 lashes and testimony will be never accepted from you ever again.
  • So if a husband sees his wife committing adultery with his own eyes, he should swear by Allah (swt) that indeed its the truth (4 times). The 5th time he should swear that if he is lying then the curse of Allah (swt) be on him. If the wife wants to defend herself, she can swear 4 times similarly in her own defense. The 5th oath is that the curse of Allah (swt) be on her if her husband is truthful.
  • After this, the marriage is done and over. The two (husband and wife) will be separated forever. Marriage ends, because now there is no trust between them anymore.
  • Story of the great Ifk (the Great Lie) regarding Hz. Aisha (ra).
  • Most disliked are those who have sharp tongues, with no control over what they say. Don’t lie. Not even white “little” lies.
  • Allah (swt) doesn’t like people who spread indecency, all and any indecency. Do not falsely accuse or slander. Do not just believe and repeat and spread what you hear. Think about it first.
  • Do not enter houses until permission has been given. Do not just show up at their houses without permission first or a warning. This isn’t just for houses too, this means bedrooms too. Knock maximum 3 times, if no answer, then just leave! Must respect the people of the home.
  • Men should lower their gaze. Protect their private parts. Guard their eyes.
  • In a Hadith it is mentioned that: there are 3 types of eyes that will NOT see Hellfire (meaning they will cross over the bridge so fast, they won’t even see Hellfire): 1) Eyes that week from Fear of Allah (swt) 2) Eyes that guard in the way of Allah 3) Eyes that were lowered from prohibited matters.
  • Remind yourself of the horrors of Hellfire, when you are about to sin. Repenting on the Day of Judgement will be of no use, it will be too late by then. Repent NOW!
  • If something comes in front of you and you accidentally see it, look away and do not look back at it.
  • *A mistake made once is a mistake. A mistake made twice is not a mistake, it’s a decision.
  • Women must lower their gaze too. Do not look at non-mahram men admiringly. Guard your private parts. Women must always lower their gaze.
  • Women’s bodies, hair, beauty should not be exposed to people. People who will see it, enjoy it and move on. This beauty is not for other people’s pleasure. Do not display your adornment, except that which is obvious. Try your best to cover the adornments. Do not flaunt it, deliberately show it. Do not be decked out to attract attention. Because hardly any of these will go to Jannah. Cover your head and cover your chest.
  • Except in front of mahram men. (husband, husband’s father, brothers, fathers, brother’s sons, very old men with no physical desires, etc)
  • Do not stamp your feet when walking to attract attention
  • Hijab is fard. Salat is fard.
  • Marry your children when they are ready.
  • If you cannot get married, then abstain from temptations. Keep yourself busy with other things until getting married.
  • Nothing should distract us from salat.
  • Prophet Muhammad (saw): said that by doing tasbeeh 100 times, you earn 1000 good deeds and block out 1000 sins. SubhanAllah, Alhamdulilah, Laillahha illalah, Allah-u-Akbar: these words/dhirk make the sins fall of the person just as dead old leaves fall of a tree if it is slightly shaken.
  • Busy yourself in Allah’s Dhikr.
  • We hear and we obey, those are the successful
  • If we obey Allah’s Messenger, we will be rightly guided.
  • There are certain times, that adults and children should enter their parents bedroom: Before fajr prayer, At noon, and after the night prayer. These are the three times of privacy. Must knock and ask permission before coming in.
  • Relatives and people whose houses you should and can eat from are mentioned here.

Surah Al-Furqan: (the Criterion)

  • Quran is for all, through the Messenger, a warning to the worlds.
  • There are only two homes in the HereAfter: Heaven (Jannah) and Hell.
  • Every person you know is a test for you.
