Background:
Madinah surah. 176 ayahs Women. Ther is no surah called Rijal (men). This Surah was revealed when Aisha had moved into the home of Muhammad (saw). It is known as Adl (justice) and rahma (mercy). Weak people of society are mentioned in this Surah. Ayesha Ra said Surah An-Nisa was revealed after she was living with the Prophet Muhammad (saw). In the 1st year of Hijri in the Month of Shawwal, after the migration to Medina.
Ayah 1:
- Oh mankind, fear your Lord, Rabb. All people should fear Him.
- Take smthg to protect yourself. Avoid all that will cause Him to be angry with you
- We are being ordered her to adopt taqwah.
- People are told to have Taqwah. All people. All of mankind. Not just believers.
- It is His right that you fear Him and love Him the most. To have a relationship most sound with Him.
- We constantly worry about our relationships with other people, but what about our relationship with our Lord, our Rabb.
- He is Who created you all, from one soul. From one origin. Adam (as).
- Adam (as) was created by Allah Himself. and then others descended from him.
- Nafs: can be soul. or can be soul and body together.
- And then He created from Adam, his wife. Hawa. She was created from Adam (as) ’s left rib, while he was sleeping. He woke up and saw her, and liked her. Allah had created this.
- Woman (Eve / Hawwa Al.) was created from the left rib of Adam. Shows equality. Verily the most curved part of the rib is its upper part so if you should try to straighten it you will break it but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. (Fath.al-Bari)
- Dont expect her to be like a man. Dont treat her like a man. Dont expect her to behave like a man.
- Crooked doesn’t mean bad or to be looked down up.
- She is different from a man.
- Hawwa’ (Eve), who was created from Adam’s left rib, from his back while he was sleeping. When Adam woke up and saw Hawwa’, he liked her and had affection for her, and she felt the same toward him. Woman was created from a rib. Verily, the most curved portion of the rib is its upper part, so, if you should try to straighten it, you will break it, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked.(From Ibn Kathir tafsir)
- And He made and disbursed from them (adam and Hawa), many many more men and women.
- We learn about the creation of the human race. that they are not from an animal. not evolved from apes etc. That Allah created man.
- Natural marriage is between man and woman. not woman and woman, not man and man.
- All humanity are like one family, bc all children of Adam (as). All are equal. One with a different complexion doesn’t make them inferior or suprior.
- Fear Allah.
- When you ask each other for rights, by mentioning ties of kinship.
- “i am asking for this as your mother, or your father, as your husband or wife” etc.
- you use Allahs name when asking for your rights, by using His name, you ask for rights.
- By mentioning the ties of kinship, you demand things.
- BuT: instead you should say : I ask you by Allah.
- Indeed Allah is over you an Observer, He watches you in a way, such that nothing is hidden from Him.
- He takes care of you. None of your actions are hidden. When you wrong someone He knows and He sees it, It will be brought forth on the DOJ.
- Raqeeba = ر ق ب• Ever watchful, Overseer, Supervisor• Raqeeb is from Raqaba• Raqaba means neck• Ruqoob is to watch over someone• Raqeeb is someone who keeps the eye on the neck on the one that he is watching over – the one he is observing is under his close observation• Raqba is also used for carefulness, to look after someone, to secure someone from dangers• Raqeeb is someone who is alert himself and he is also closely observing and watching the one he is looking after such that none of the actions are hidden from him• Neck here means close observation Meaning of Innallah kaana alaykum Raqeeba• Allah watches you, He is taking care of us and all our deeds and actions are known to him
- Larger units of humanity cannot be rectified until the individuals and smaller families are not rectified. Starts with your self and your family members.
- Give rights to relatives
- you will be tested through your relatives.
- The amazing reward for this :Abu Huraira narrated : I heard Allah’s messenger saying“He who desires that he be granted more provision and his life be prolonged, should join ties with his blood relations.”
- Abu Huraira narrated — A man said to Allah’s messenger —“I have relations, I try to keep the ties of relationship with them but they sever relations with me; I treat them kindly but they treat me badly, I am gentle with them but they are rough to me. He (Allah’s messenger) replied : “If you are as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will be with a supporter against them from Allah as long as you continue to do so.”
- Prophet Sal. said“Charity to the needy is just charity. Charity to near relatives is two fold. Charity and kinship”
- (can read Husna Akhlaq pg 111)
Ayah 2:
- and give to the orphans their properties ( when they reach the age of puberty)
- orphans are those: whose father dies while he or she is still young and not yet reached puberty
- when they hit puberty they are no longer considered orphan. No orphan after puberty.
- and dont substitute the defective for the good of theirs. dont take your bad and exchange it with your good. dont exchange your bad quality wealth with their good quality wealth. your weak animals and exchange with their good animals. etc. dont do this.
- Dont consume their properties into your own. and then use it for your own things. dont due
- indeed that is a great sin. punishment is great.
- If you are taking care of orphans, you can use from their wealth. that is ok.
- you can and might need to mix your wealth with theirs, to take care of them, but you must be fair and give them what is theirs. But dont consume their wealth unrightfully.
- can give zakat from their wealth, even if they have not reached puberty yet and its not in their possession yet
Ayah 3: VOICE breaking.
- and if you fear, you will not be just with the orphans (orphans girls especially) or orphan children.
- then marry someone else upto 4 women.
- Aiymaan (pl.) = Yameen (sing.)• Right handMaa-Malakath Aiymaanikum• It is an expression used for Slaves and in this context it refers to slave women
- dont marry women who has orphen children if u think u wont be fair with her children
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) married 12 women, but this was an exception only for him.
- Al-Yathama in this context• Any orphan children (who are supposed to be under you) – you should fear misappropriating their wealth or not giving their rights • You should be even more scared about the women you marry • Al-Yathama can also be understood as orphan girls – so if you are scared that you wont be able to do justice (i.e. if you marry orphan girls you wont be able to treat them properly or give them their right, then don’t marry them – marry someone else)• So if you are scared about it marry whom you can deal with justly• Especially marrying Orphans girls in particular that you are scared that you won’t be able to do justice to them that is if you marry orphan girls you will not treat if them as other wives
- IF a man thinks he cannot be fair or just to more than wife he should avoid marrying more than one.
- Background• The verse was revealed about orphan girls. But applies to other women as well.• In pre-Islamic times the Arabs generally used to abuse the rights of orphan girls under their protection• If for example a man was in charge of an orphan girl who was beautiful, he would marry her, take over her wealth and not give her any of that money, but totally usurp it • On the other hand, if for example she was plain looking – he wouldn’t marry her, but he would make sure she stayed a spinster and she would be deprived of her wealth. • They had no choice – they were not asked about their likes and dislikes. Beautiful or plain looking, these orphans were exploited
- • Sometimes, they would marry them off to their own sons or to whomsoever they wished, sometimes with no Mahr or sometimes fixing the lowest dowry of their choice, not give it to them and then take advantage of their vulnerable situation. • Here Allah refers to this and grants Muslim men the right or permission to perform polygamyAnd if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls then marry (other) women of your choice• So this verse teaches us that if you cant marry them and do justice to them, then don’t marry them, instead marry others.
- can’t be forced into marrying someone. You should be pleased with who you are marrying. you should not be forced into it. Man is encouraged to look at the woman in question for marriage. if he doesn’t like her or has no inclination to her, than he should not marry her.
- Not necessary to marry 4. But can marry upto 4. if cannot be just, than marry just 1.
- Ibn Abas said that in pre-Islamic times, Arabs married 10 or more women. Then they had to take care of the wives and children and it became a financial burden and so they would take money or property from orphans under their care to provide for their own family.• So when Islam came, Allah limited them to 4 so that they do not trample upon the orphans rights who were under their care.
- see the fairness in Islam, that slaves are integrated back into society
- Prophet Sal. said :Whoever has two wives and he inclined towards one of them more, he will come on the Day of Judgment with half his body paralyzed
Ayah 4:
- Bridal gift that the husband gives.
- graciously give it to them, happily
- Mahr is given to the woman, not her wali. It is given to the wife.
- given graciously and happily
- It is mandatory. It is her right, it belongs to her
- Ayesha Rali defined Nihla as obligatory (as fardh)
- and if they give up any of maHr, happily. then take it in satisfaction and ease. So if the wife gives up something of it. accept it from her happily.
- but she cannot be forced to spend from it
- and then dont neglect or let it rot somewhere after receiving it from her. she should not remind him either about the favors or gifts she gets him.
- keep your hereafter in mind always.
- It was reported from Abu Salama that when he asked Aisha about Allah’s Messenger’s (SAW) Mahr, she said: “His Mahr to his wives was 12 Awkeias and one “Nash” and she added: ‘Do you know what is the Nash’. The answer was in negation. Aisha said: ‘one half of Awkeia’. So, all will be 500 Dirhams (i.e. about 1490, grams of silver).”
- Umar Rali. in a sermon once said ‘Muslim men should be moderate by fixing the Mahr and should not exceed the limit’ And a woman stood up and rebuked him saying “you have no right to take away what Allah has granted us”. And Umar Rali. publicly took back his words, which showed the role that women were granted in that society.
Ayah 5:
- dont give the weak-minded your property. but provide for them, the weak minded, with it. with the wealth that is meant for you.
- provide fro them, clothe them, speak to them kindly.
- weak minded- less in intellect, weak in age, knowledge of deen is less, mental illness, poverty, those who lack money sense, young kids, immature.
- So dont give the foolish ones/weak minded from wealth that Allah gave you for your livelihood. instead provide for them, clothe them and speak to them kindly.
- guarding your wealth is a right too. we must be moderate with it.
- wealth is means of sustenance. ways of earning reward for using it for sadaqah.
Ayah 6
- test the orphans until they reach age of marriage/nikaah,
- test to see if they can manage money and eventually their own wealth.
- and until they are able to manage their own wealth. when you perceive in them sound judgement.
- than hand over their wealth to them
- dont consume their wealth or spend it quickly before they grow up. spend it with caution.
- Whoever while acting as a guardian of orphans is self sufficient/rich, should refrain from taking a fee for that management or duty, should refrain from charging a fee or wage for managing the orphans wealth.
- Whoever is poor, let him take what is appropriate for managing the wealth of the orphans. He can take a fee for his managing. Take only what is needed though, whatever is acceptable. As a loan or wage. a loan can be taken too, with intention of returning it back to the orphan.
- A man asked the Messenger of Allah , “I do not have money, but I have an orphan under my care.” The Messenger said,“Eat from your orphan’s wealth without extravagance or wastefulness, or mixing it, and without saving your money by spending his”
- so when they are ready to get their wealth, bring two witnesses, as you pay the orphans their wealth.
- And Allah is the Accountant. Account taker.
- remember your account will also be taken by Allah
- those who can’t uphold the responsibilities, should not accept the responsibilities either.
What tips in regards to marriage or those looking to get married, can you extract from these first 6 ayahs?
Ayah 7:
- Both for men and for women will each have a share in what their parents and relatives leave behind.
- Both men and women, each.
- whatever is left from it, be it a small portion or big portion.
- whatever was ordained/appointed. Whatever they are legally entitled to. obligatory share.
- made obligatory by Allah
- it is not upto the heirs. they dont have any authority.
- they have to take their shares and can do what they want with it. but they cannot reject their heirs.
- property of the deceased will be distributed.
- everyone who is entitled to get a share should receive it.
- clothes on the body that died will be distributed.
- Unless the deceased wrote a will or had a debt. then the property will divided after execution of the will and debt has been paid off.
- Prior to islam there were ways to distribute the wealth/inheritance:
-
- give inheritance based on confederacy. based on declaration. • Give inheritance based upon confederacy-Haleef- when a person would say to another person “My Life is your life, My Blood is your Blood, My wealth is your wealth, I inherit from you and you from me”. One would person would say this and make the other person his Haleef and this other person is (not necessarily related) when the person dies all of his property would be inherited by his haleef and in this way the true inheritors, don’t get their inheritance
- Muthabannah: if a person didn’t have a son, he would make someone his son and leave all his inheritance for that said son. And all the other relatives would lose out. Made the son by words. not by true blood.
- give inheritance to the children, but only to the eldest son. none to other children and women were totally deprived from any inheritance. Bc they believed that those who went to war, fight and collected war booty should get inheritance. So since women didn’t do this, they didn’t deserve any inheritance.
- Islam brought an end to these practices. and gave the correct ways distribute and share inheritance. nobody was to be deprived.
- relatives: parents children spouses
- share for certain close relations.
- Naseeban = ن ص ب • To fix something• Naseeb is a fixed portion (the amount is fixed and the receiver is fixed)
Ayah 8:
- If the relatives, needy or orphans are present at the time of division of inheritance, give them a portion and speak to them kindly. provide for smthg out of that estate.
- at the time of the division the inheritance.
- This is those who don’t have a share in the inheritance. those relatives that have not been specified by Allah to receive any wealth. can be distance relatives, needy people of society or orphans, or children.
- relatives of the deceased that don’t have a fixed portion of the inheritance.
- There are 2 types of people• One who has a fixed share in the inheritance – children , parents and spouse• Other people who do not have a definite share in inheritance- siblings and other distant relatives. Cousins etc- Mahroomul Irth
- could be that these distance relatives are all living in the same home of the deceased but dont have a portioned share. Ex. Joint family system.
- Bc they will see things and wealth being distributed in front of them.
- ex. on plane when air hostess misses to give you food while everyone else is getting it. thats how they will feel.
- give them a small portion a token. this is a mutual understanding among the heirs. this a small portion that should be given. to be nice to them. give them some gift.
- • Abdullah Ibn Abbas rali considers it wajib to give something to someone when he comes at the time of division of inheritance
- And dont speak to them harshly.
- Be good through your actions AND tongue. especially at this time, this time of difficulty.
- The one who is dividing or disposing the estate/inheritance have the same fear in their minds as they would if they were leaving a helpless family behind.
- They should therefore, fear Allah and speak for justice.
- • Some scholars say that it is Mustahab- preferred to give something to someone when he comes at the time of division of inheritance
Ayah 9:
- the ones distributing the wealth. Let them fear injustice, let them fear Allah, as if they are leaving weak ones behind. weak children or family behind.
- and speak words of appropriate justice. correct words. free from excess. balanced.
- this command is for: it is for the executors of the will, the ones instructed to carry out the will. The beneficiaries. The Awsiya- the Guardians- those to whom the bequest is made is addressed here. The ones who are carrying out the will.
- For them is the command. They should fear Allah as if they are leaving their own family and kids behind.
- for ex: The treatment you want for your own kids, thats how you should treat the kids you are inheriting or looking after.
- Also if the dying person is being unjust when making a will or planning to distribute his wealth, and if those sitting near by hear it, they should point out the injustice. as if this was happening to their own children. Should advise that dying person to not do injustice.
- Dont fear that person, fear Allah.
- Speak of appropriate justice.
Ayah 10:
- Those who devour the wealth of orphans unjustly indeed they swallowing fire into their bellies and they will be set ablaze.
- Fire will be inside him and around him.
- • Surah Nisa was revealed after the battle of Uhud and there were many martyrs and as a result there were many orphans.
- There was a man by the name of Sa’ad Ibn Rabee- he was one of the wealthiest men in Medina , he had no sons, he had only daughters. His wife came to the prophet sal and said :”O Allah’s Messenger, these are the two daughters of Sa’ad ibn Rabee who was killed a martyr with you at Uhud. Their uncle has taken all of their property and left nothing for them and they will not get married with no property.” The Prophet (sas) said: “Allah will decide your case.” Whereupon Allah revealed the above-mentioned verses (An-Nisaa 11-12). The Prophet (sas) sent word to the uncle saying: “Give the two daughters of Sa’ad two thirds and their mother one eighth and what is left is yours.”
- HadithIt is recorded in the Two Sahihs that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said,(Avoid the seven great destructive sins. ) The people asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! What are they” He said (Avoid the seven great destructive sins. ) The people asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! What are they” He said To join others in worship along with Allah, magic, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, to consume interest, to consume an orphan’s property, to turn your back to the enemy and flee from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse chaste women who never even think of anything harmful to their chastity being good believers.)
Background info:
- Knowledge of the rules for the division of wealth and inheritance.
- What is the hierarchy with regard to Inheritance (The order in which laws of inheritance apply)
-
- 1. Quranic Heirs (zawil Farood)
- 2. Closest Male relatives (Asaba)
- 3. Relations connected through females (zawil arhaam)
- inheritor is entitled to his share even he dies a few days after the deceased.
- the deceased are
- Inheritance can be distributed only among the living members of the family. A dead person cannot inherit
- Inheritor is entitled to a share even if a dies a few days after the deceased e.g. if a father and son were in a car accident and the son dies first- the father will inherit from the son even if he dies a few hours later
- Inheritance must be distributed in all situations whether the wealth is a little or lot it must be distributed
- Laws of inheritance are applied to all kinds of wealth cash, property, houses, even spoons. pens will be distributed
- The inheritance should be distributed right after the death of the owner without delay except if the deceased leaves behind his wife and she is pregnant in that case the inheritance will be delayed and distributed after the child is born because if it is a son the case will be different – the share will be different and if it is a girl then the share will be different
- If the husband has pronounced Talaq Rajee ( 1st and 2nd Talaq- Revocable)and the woman is still in her Iddah and her husband passes away she will inherit from her husband
- One Inheritor can purchase the share of another inheritor for e.g there is one house and there are two brothers both have a share in the house- if one brother wants he can purchase the share from the other brother if he agrees.
- knowledge of inheritance is founded on principles:
-
- 1. Closeness in Relation – addresses the issue of who will receive inheritance.
-
- Nasab/Blood- children, parents and siblings
- Nikah/Marriage- Husband and wife but it should be a valid nikkah- wali, Ijab and Qubul, Mahr and witnesess
- Wala/Relationship between slave and master- when a master emancipates his slave and after he frees the slave the slave dies and the slave has no inheritors- no family ,children, then the Master will inherit from the slave. If the master dies the slave cannot inherit from the master
- 2. Need – addresses the issue of how much will be received of inheritance e.g. children have more need than parents so their share is more, a man has more need than a woman so his share is more- a man has to take care of family, siblings, have to give Mahr
- 3. Distribution of Wealth – addresses the issue of why inheritance is distributed. So that the wealth doesn’t remain concentrated in the hands of a few people. Inheritance is divided among a lot of people
- Ibn ‘Umar reported,The Messenger of Allāh, peace and blessings of Allāh be on him, said:”It is not right for a Muslim who has property regarding which he must make a will that he should sleep for two nights (consecutively) but that his will should be written down with him.
- The one who is making the will cannot make a will in favor of a legal heir. cannot add them to the will, bc they already have a share legally islamically.
- Narrated Abu Hurairah:I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: Allah has appointed for everyone who has a right what is due to him, and no bequest must be made to an heir.Sunan Abu Dawood Book 11, Number 2864:
- when a person dies:
-
- funeral expenditures should be taken care of
- payment of debts owed to people, rent, maHr, debts owed to Allah (zakat, fasting, fidya, Hajj)
- execution of the will
- distribution of remain estate among the heirs.
- Muslim relative dont inherit from disbeliever and vice versa.
- killer cannot inherit from the victim
- 4 conditions for distributing his wealth1. Payment of Funeral expenses, buying shroud, buying a piece of land for burial etc2. Payment of Debt owed to people (Loans, Mahr) and Debts owed to Allah (zakat due on wealth, fidya for fasts, Hajj – inheritors will use wealth from his inheritance and do Hajj- Hajj Badal on his behalf)3. Execution of his will- after debts are paid bequest will be carried out4. Distribution of the remaining estate among the heirs according to the Islamic Law
- • A Muslim relative does not inherit from a disbeliever and vice versa. Muslim and non-Muslim do not inherit from each other based on sahih hadith of the Prophet (sas).
- • The killer does not inherit from the victim – even if they had a relationship. Murder (and in some cases manslaughter) – of the deceased by one of the heirs directly or indirectly.
- • The illegitimate child will not inherit from his father because the conditions of Nikkah were not fulfilled
Ayah 11:
- Allah instructs you, giving you important advice with a lot of emphasis, orders you. In concerning your children. Children male and female kids.
- How you distribute your wealth
- For male: equal to 2 females share.
- 2 girls and 1 boy : $200 : boy gets $100 and girls both get $100, split each girl $50 each .
- bc it is the mans responsibility to provide for the children and wife. not the responsibility for wife or woman.
- bc woman will get inheritance from parents and gets mahr from husband.
- So son gets more, bc he will be taking care of his family. etc.will be giving mahR to his wife. etc.
- if there are only sons, no daughters, then all sons get equal shares.
- Whatever the girl inherits, its her. doesn’t have to spend it on anyone.
- there is no discrimination bc the roles of man and woman are different. So its very fair.
- But if there are only daughters, 2 or more daughters, then 2/3 of wealth will be distributed equally among the girls.
- IF there is only one girl, no siblings/no sons, she gets 1/2 the wealth and the rest of the wealth is for the rest of the relatives.
- Parents: 1/6 for each parent. if he left children. the rest to the children.
- But if no children, mom gets 1/3, father gets the rest.
- If he had brothers or sisters: mom gets 1/6, the rest for the father, and nothing for the siblings.
- debt paid off first, then the distribution happens.
- Debts owed to people or to Allah, should be paid off first.
- your parents or your children, you dont know who are nearest to you in benefit.
- You dont know who will benefit you more. in terms of this world and the next
- these shares are an obligation made by Allah.
- Allah knows how much everyone needs and in what situation.
- how many living inheritors does the deceased have, noted and then divided accordingly. graphs are made for this.
- no inheritance for:
- case 1: Son gets double of what daughter gets
- case 2: only daughters, they 2/3 of wealth left behind
- case 3: one daughter: 1/2 of wealth.
- case 1 ( parents)- children dies, father and mother each get 1/6
- case 2- deceased has no children; mom gets 1/3
- case 3: deceased has siblings: 1/6 goes to mom.
Ayah 12:
- now about the spouse.
- *And for you (husband) is what 1/2 of what your wives leave, if there is no child. nikaah has to be valid til death of wife.
- *But if there is a child, then husband gets 1/4 from wife
- after debts paid off, wasiyah fulfilled and then distributed. if all money used paying off debts, then heirs get nothing.
- *if man dies, for the wife is 1/4 is no child is left behind.
- *But if there is a child, wife gets 1/8,
- after of course debts are paid off first.
- man does not have control over his wealth after he dies, except for 1/3 he can write in the will.
- Kalalah: Now this is the man or woman who leaves no ascendants or descendants. but has a brother or sister. than for each of them is a 1/6. meaning has no parents or children. but has siblings.
- But if they (he or she)have more than 2 siblings, regardless of sisters or brothers, they will get 1/3 to share between the siblings., and 2/3 will go elsewhere.
- this is instruction from Allah.
- division of wealth is decided by wealth
- Allahs Division is based on HIs knowledge.
- Spouse cases review:
-
- case 1: wife dies, no child- husband gets 1/2
- case 2: wife dies, has a child- husband gets 1/4
- case 3: man dies, no child- wife gets 1/4
- case 4: man dies, has a child – wife gets 1/8
- case 5: no parents and no children- but has one sibling- sibling gets 1/6
- case 6: more than 1 siblings: they get 1/3 to share.
-
these are the limits set by Allah.
-
whoever obeys Allah, and His messenger will be admitted to gardens under which rivers flow.
-
abiding for ever and in it are the most great successful
-
those who are successful and implementing these laws.
-
and who ever disobeys Allah and His messenger and transgresses will be admitted to the Fire and abide there for ever. this is a humiliating and disgraceful punishment.
-
these are people who disobey and deprive people of their rights.
-
those who leave an unfair will
-
soul and heart will feel his punishment
-
And those of your (muslim) women who commit adultery/immorality. During days of Jahilayah women had made this common. They had made this a common practice.
-
Bring from, ask for 4 witnesses from among you, against them. The guardians should bring 4 witnesses against the woman. All the witnesses have to men, mature, sane, free, trustworthy, muslim. they will have to testify and say they witnessed this act with their own eyes. Cannot be assumption. They have to had seen it with their own eyes.
-
SO that nobody slanders a woman’s chastity and get her punished for no reason. this si for protection of women.
-
If you can’t find 4 witnesses, than they cannot punish the woman.
-
If you don’t bring 4 witnesses, than this is slander. or they will be lashed 80 times for spreading this wrong information that cannot be verified.
-
The testimony of the woman will not be accepted. bc its a serious matter.
-
If the woman confesses or if those witnesses testify against them, hold them ( the women), confine them ( the women) in their homes,
-
until their death or until Allah opens another way for them. ( that might be later revealed)
-
confine them to their homes, bc them going out in public and mingling is what got them in this situation in the first place.
-
so house arrest is their punishment. ( this was later abrogated)
-
in Surah Noor house arrest was abrogated. instead the punishment was 100 Lashes for each guilty party, unmarried. and stoning to death for the married woman.
-
fornication: unlawful sexual relations between unmarried man and women.
-
Adultery: same between two married man and women. extramarital relations.
-
Fahisha: adultery fornication, lesbianism, homosexuality, major sins.
-
bn `Abbas said,”The early ruling was confinement, until Allah sent down Surat An-Nur (chapter 24) which abrogated that ruling with the ruling of flogging (for fornication) or stoning to death (for adultery).”
-
Islam doesn’t allow indecency to flourish in the society.
-
And the two, whether married or unmarried. Or two men- who commit homosexuality or lesbianism.
-
The two who commit the Fahishah, the zinna. the adultery.
-
Prophet Lot’s nation were the first nation to commit homosexuality. it was not committed from before.
-
punish them both. Dishonor them both. humiliate them. Rebuke them, beat them physically them, hurt them.
-
but if the two repent/tawbah and mend/reform and change their ways, before they are caught. then leave them alone. don’t remind them of their past. don’t dishonor them anymore. don’t defame them, leave them alone. bc they repented on time.
-
If they repent after being caught, then its too late, punish them.
-
Allah is the greatest Acceptor of repentance and always merciful. He repeatedly acceptance repentance from people after they committed all kinds of crimes, even major ones.
-
Those who repent at the right time and seriously sincerely repent and do tawbah, and then fix themselves
-
zero tolerance for indecency in Deen, the punishment has been mentioned for them and were carried out.

Prophet sal said ‘Allah will not look at a man who commits sodomy with a man or a woman”Tirmizi
-
Prophet Sal. said:“There are 4 types of people who when they begin their day, they begin with the wrath of AllahAnd when they reach the evening, they are under the wrath of Allah. Who are they asked the Sahaba (Companions). He Prophet Sal. said, those men who imitate women, those women who imitate men, those who have intercourse with animals, one who has intercourse with men (homosexuals)
-
Sayyidina Abû Bakr RA had passed such a ruling and Hazrat Ali RA was very severe in his ruling against such a crime. It is established that once Sayyidina Khalid bin Walîd RA found a man in the frontiers of Arabia marrying another man in the way a woman marries a man, so he wrote about it to Abu Bakr RA. When Abu Bakr RA consulted with the Sahabah RA, Ali RA who was the severest in his condemnation of it, said: “Only one out of the many nations had indulged in it and you all know how Allâh had dealt with them. I feel that he should be destroyed by fire.” So Abu Bakr RA wrote back to Sayyidina Khalid RA who then put the man to death by means of fire. He said such a person should be burnt!Ibn Qassar and Ibn Taymiyyah Rahmatullah alaihim have said: “All the Sahabah RA were unanimous that he should be killed though some of them differed in the manner in which it should be done. Abu Bakr RA said that he should be executed by being thrown from a great height. Another view of Hazrat Ali RA was that a wall should be dropped upon him. Hazrat Ibn Abbâs RA, Ali, Jabir bin Zaid RA, Abdullah bin Ma’mar RA, Imam Zuhri and Imam Malik Rahmatullah alaihim have said that those who commit the evil deed of the people of Lût AS should be stoned to death, whether they be married or unmarried. This is also one of the narrations of Imams Ahmad, Shâfi’î and Abu Thour Rahmatullah alaihim.Hazrat Ibn Abbâs RA. was once asked about the punishment for the homosexual. He replied, “He should be taken to the top of the highest building in the town and thrown headlong from there. Then he should be pelted with stones.” Jâbir bin Zaid RA used to say, “The prohibitive decree of the anus is far more serious than the prohibitive decree of the vagina.” In other words, the prohibition against anal intercourse is far more severe than the prohibition against illegitimate sexual intercourse (adultery with a woman).• Some others says such a person should be executed by the swordPunishment of the people of Lut Alai
-
repentance is only accepted by Allah, if the sin is committed out of ignorance.
-
If the sin was committed and they didn’t know it was a crime.
-
Or if someone becomes ignorant at a certain time, doesn’t realize. do due to the overwhelming emotions. one starts to behave in a certain wrong way. behave ignorantly.
-
If they repent after that, as soon as they realize that they shouldnt have done it. before death.
-
than its accepted by Allah.
-
Allah is all knowing and all wise.
-
His knowledge is complete and perfect.
-
repentance is not accepted of those who repeatedly do sinful deeds throughout life, and then repent at the time of death. this tawbah is not accepted.
-
when a person tries to repent at the time of death, while sinning all their lives. this will not be accepted or benefit a person.
-
Bc the time of retribution has begun at time of death. so repenting then useless.
-
Pharaoh’s repentance at the time of death was Not accepted. He is in punishment and so are his followers.
-
similarly there is no repentance for those who die while still unbelievers.
-
we have health and life now, so we should be constantly doing tawbah. we should be constantly analyzing ourselves. to check ourselves. repent now. before its too late.
-
for them Allah has prepared for them a painful punishment.
-
4 types of people who repent:
-
-
repent immediately: tawbah is accepted
-
procrastinate and forget the sin: up to Allah to accept or not
-
tawbah at time of death: not accepted by Allah.
-
die and dont do tawbah. then repent when seeing Akhirah: this won’t be accepted.
-
Ayah 19:
- Oh believers, its not permissible or lawful for you to inherit your women. meaning consider them as inheritance. by compulsion
- Customs before Islam, Arabs would: women would be inherited in the same manner as house or properties. She would be part of the inheritance. If a widow had steps son, they would marry those women, and take the bridal money. She would be an asset. she didn’t have a say in any of this.
- So now the believers are being told its haram, for you to force them into marriage. or marriage to someone else. Cannot inherit her by compulsion.
- Islam has protected the rights of women. prevent them from being oppressed.
- dont make matters difficult for them to take back the MAhr or some other gifts given during marriage or nikaah.
- Husbands are addressed here. Men are addressed here.
- Unless, the woman commits a clear immorality. clear and evident fahHisha. Open wrong deed. clearly wrong, that affects others. disobedience.
- Then in this case the husband can take back the Mahr.
- In behavior, though, Live with them (your women) in kindness. deal with them ( your women) in Kindness. in speech. be kind to her. don’t be like a boss, ordering to do this and that. etc. show love and physical bonding. don’t be overly suspicious of everything she does. help in her housework, etc.
- Prophet Sal. Said at the Hajathul wida“Treat your women well and be kind to them for their partners and committed helpers”
- But the women/wives have to be good too. they have to be fair too to their husbands.
- husband and wife relationship is a mutual relationship. live in fairness.
- And If you don’t like your wife: be patient.
- perhaps you dislike a thing, that Allah makes in that thing you dislike, much good.
- maybe there is a habit or appearance you don’t like, but be patient and maybe Allah has placed smthg in that thing you don’t like, much good.
- Husbands have a harder time overlooking these things, than wives do.
- There is no such in this world as perfect wife and husband. everyone has weaknesses and flaws. No such thing as a perfect spouse. Don’t look for faults in your spouse.
- Look at the spouses of the best of example to mankind: Prophet Muhammad (saw): he was just with all his wives, equally. treated them all kindly.
- Prophet Sal. taught us that“no believer should hate his believing wife maybe if he disliked something in her he will like another quality.”
Ayah 20:
- But if you want replace one wife with another. Meaning you want to divorce her and replace her.
- you cannot take back the Mahr from the wife you are divorcing. thats forbidden.
- if you have given one of them a great amount of wealth, Mahr,
- Qinthar a great amount.
- dont take anything back from them. from the Mahr you gave them.
- Qinthaaran = ق ن ط• Heap of wealth, large amount of money, accumulated wealtho According to the people of Ash-Sham it is a 100 Rithal. 1 Rithal is 2.5 kg so that would be 250 kg of gold or silver. o According to others Qinthar is the amount that fills up the skin of an oxen or cow. A Qinthar is whatever you can fill in that skin
- “`Umar bin Al-Khattab stood up on the Minbar of the Messenger of Allah and said, `O people! Why do you exaggerate concerning the dowry given to women The Messenger of Allah and his Companions used to pay up to four hundred Dirhams for a dowry, or less than that. Had paying more for a dowry been a part of Taqwa or an honor, you would not have led them in this practice. Therefore, I do not want to hear about a man who pays more than four hundred Dirhams for a dowry.’ He then went down the Minbar, but a woman from Quraysh said to him, `O Leader of the Faithful! You prohibited people from paying more than four hundred Dirhams in a dowry for women’ He said, `Yes.’ She said, `Have you not heard what Allah sent down in the Qur’an’ He said, `Which part of it’ She said, `Have you not heard Allah’s statement, [وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ قِنْطَاراً] (And you have given one of them a Qintar)’ He said, `O Allah! Forgive me…’ He then went back and stood up on the Minbar saying, `I had prohibited you from paying more than four hundred Dirhams in a dowry for women. So, let everyone pay what he likes from his money.”’ The chain of narration for this Hadith is strong.
- Would you take it back in sin, injustice. by falsely accusing or slandering her? would you do this? and manifest sin?!
- It is forbidden to take back the mahr given to the woman
Ayah 21:
- How can you legalize taking it back?
- while you have enjoyed each other. after benefitting from her.
- than how can you take back the Mahr?
- after consummating the marriage..
- after they have taken the oath, the covenant. during nikaah. this oath is very strong and binding.
- thats why Nikaah is done in public and not secretly.
- than after all this how can you take the Mahr back??
Ayah 22:
- dont marry women that your father married.
- except what has happened in the past.
- that is a immorality and hateful to Allah.
- marrying wife of the father or grandfather, is hateful and evil and immorality. its hateful to Allah. its indecent. hated act.
- bc she is like the mother to the child. so to marry her is very very wrong.
- can cause the father to hate son, and son to hate father. severs relations.
- disliked by Allah, creates hatred between relations, its an evil way.
- similarly women should not marry the men that their mother or grandmothers married.
- whatever happened of this, let it go, and move on. but dont dig into the past.
- but don’t let it happen intentionally.
- and was evil as a way-, for those who take this way. Therefore, those who commit this practice will have committed an act of reversion from the religion and deserve capital punishment and confiscation of their property, which will be given to the Muslim Treasury. Imam Ahmad and the collectors of Sunan recorded that Al-Bara’ bin `Azib said that his uncle Abu Burdah was sent by the Messenger of Allah to a man who married his stepmother to execute him and confiscate his money.• If a person commits this act today he will be executed. If you let such people walk in society it will encourage others to do the same
Ayah 23:
- prohibited for marriage: are your mothers, stepmothers, both paternal and maternal grandmothers and all going upwards.
- also prohibited are your daughters, step-daughters, also grand-daughters and onwards going down. through sons and daughters.
- also sisters, half sisters ( shares same father, or shares same mother), step sisters,
- also your father’s sisters.
- also sisters of maternal mothers or grandmothers.
- also your brothers daughters and granddaughters.
- also your sisters daughters, and granddaughters, going downwards.
- and your mothers who nursed you.
- also sisters through nursing, meaning foster sisters. nursed by same wet nurse. daughters of your wet nurse.
- same categories above apply to suckling or nursing too.
- also your wives mothers.
- also your step daughters under your guardian ship, whose mother you have had sexual intercourse. who have these daughters from a previous husband. (meaning a daughter from your wife’s previous marriage, is also prohibited to you)
- But if you have NOT consummated the marriage though and get divorced, then you CAN marry her daughter.
- also the wives of your sons. your own sons, from your loins.
- and also prohibited is the sister-in-law, meaning sister of your wife. meaning both sisters can’t be married at the same to you. but if one dies than you can marry the sister, after.
- there is no sin for what happened in the past, but such a nikaah will be terminated,
- Allah is ever forgiving and ever merciful.
- and Aunt and a niece can’t be married to same man at same time.
- *suckling/breastfeeding less than 5 times, does not qualify as suckling or nursing. suckling must occur before the age of 2. some say it can happen after 2.
- Hadith tells us that an aunt and a niece cannot be married to the same man at one time.
Ayah 24:
- Also prohibited are all married women.
- except those who were captured during war, who become slaves. prisoners of war. captured, so their nikkah with their husbands prior, would be invalidated. when such a woman is captured, they are taken to the government, are war captives, they are exchanged with the enemies for a portion of the muslim land that was seized by the enemy, or exchanged for their own muslim prisoners that have been captured by enemies. or these captives are distributed to the soldiers who took part in the battle. so that the soldiers could take care and give the girls protection and shelter.
- • During the time of prophet sal many battles were fought• In the battle of Badr they captured 70 Quraish• In some battles they also captured woman• As soon as she is captured her Nikkah is invalidated.• When the woman is captured the soldier cannot do whatever he wants with her- these slave girls are taken to the government and the government will decide what to do with them
- Options of what can be done with slave girls• Either they can exchange these slave girls for a land that the enemy has• They could exchange the slave girls for their own prisoners of war• Distribute these slave girls among the soldiers – those who took part in the battle
- • Just as the father is the wali of his daughter similarly, the government acts as a wali for the slave girls. They give the slave girl to the man and then he becomes her master and either he can marry her- take her as his wife, free her, or take work from her and marry her off to someone else.
- • Third option is to capture them and either they can exchange these slave girls for a land that the enemy has or they could exchange the slave girls for their own prisoners of war or distribute these slave girls among the soldiers so that they have shelter.
- frees the slave, marries her and keeps her as his wife. there is great virtue in this.
- This was ordained ( these rules) by Allah.
- lawful to you are ALL others beyond this, except the ones that are mentioned here prohibited.
- cannot marry more than 4
- provide them with Mahr. that is the requirement
- seek the woman as a muhsin. and not have relations with her outside of marriage. must bring her into marriage. fortifying himself through this marriage. guarding your own chastity though this marriage.
- Not for fornicating and committing zinna.
- so whatever you enjoy from them after marriage. give them their due compensation. fulfill their needs.
- marriage fortifies a person from zinna, provides protection,
- prophet muhammad (saw) ordered the youth to get married.
- no blame upon you what you agree on mutually beyond this obligation. for ex: there is an understanding in regards to Mahr. that is ok
- Allah is ever knowing and wise.
Ayah 25:
- So whoever of your believing men, cannot find the means to marry free believing women. for Mahr.
- than he can marry believing slave girl. bc mahr and demands and needs of a slave girl will be less.
- Bc mahr is determined due to status.?
- its quite possible that a slave girl is better in terms of imaan than a free believing woman.
- you believers are of one another.
- you share Deen.
- your slaves are from your brethren. help them.
- take permission of the master before marrying the slave girl.
- give her, the slave girl, mahr according to what is acceptable
- they should be chaste. and not fornicators. who don’t commit adult and have secret lovers/friendships
- same goes for a man too.
- secret friendship: not married, opposite gender, parents dont know about, girlfriend/boyfriend titles, any interaction that can lead to that title.
- so once they are protected and sheltered in marriage. and then if they should commit adultery, than punishment is half of what would have been punishment for the free unmarried woman. 50 lashes for the slave girls.
- this allowance to marry slave girls, is for him who fears committing sin/zinna. and cannot afford to marry a free woman.
- But to be patient is better for you. so that you can marry some one is of your same status. better is husband and wife are from same status and backgrounds so there marriage will be easier.
- And Allah is forgiving and merciful.
- this allowed many slaves to be integrated into society
- Maid today is not a slave. She should not be treated like a slave. You cannot force someone to become a slave like this. it was different during times of war bc they were captives of war. this is how they were treated. But the slaves/POW are given rights, according to Islam.

Ayah 26:
- Allah wants to make clear to you about the good practices and lawful and unlawful.
- Guided to the good practices of the nations and righteous people before you.
- accepts your repentance and He is all knowing and all Wise.
- He teaches humans what is the best way of living. He guides the people to the truth
- He is also accepting of repentance.
- To make our lives in this world easier and to make our lives in the Hereafter easier. That is why He tells us all this.
- His commands are not shallow. there is wisdom behind all His commands.
Ayah 27:
- Allah wants to accept your repentance.
- Those who follow their passion and give in to their desires. they follow their desires
- they want to deviate you.
- they want to deviate you tremendously from the right way
- men and women are emotionally and physically very different.
Ayah 28:
- Allah wants to lighten burdens on you.
- bc the man kind was created weak
- Whatever Allah orders you is within your capability.
Ayah 29:
- Dont consume each others wealth through unlawful means. unjustly
- cannot consume unlawful income through mutual consent.
- even if the other person agrees, its still haram, so cannot be consumed.
- what is unlawful is unlawful
- lawful trade is fine, and with mutual consent if its lawful trade or income.
- consuming it unjustly: interest, ribba, gambling, lottery, transaction which a person is always receiving benefit, estimating how much fruits will grow on a tree and then pricing it, selling smthg haram, reducing smthg in measure, etc.
- And don’t kill yourselves, – meaning don’t commit suicide. or meaning don’t kill one another.
- whoever kills himself, will keep killing himself in the fire of Hell.
- whoever kills himself with an instrument, will be punished with it in the Hellfire.
- Abu Hurairah said that Prophet Sal. said :“Whoever kills himself with an iron tool, then his tool will be in his hand and he will keep stabbing himself with it in the Fire of Jahannam, forever and ever. Whoever kills himself with poison, then his poison will be in his hand and he will keep taking it in the Fire of Jahannam forever and ever. Whoever kills himself by throwing himself from a mountain, will keep falling in the Fire of Jahannam forever and ever.”Bukhari/Muslim
- Prophet Sal. said :A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide and Allah said “My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I shall forbid Paradise for him”Bukhari
- Narrated Jundab رضى الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allâh said: My servant tried to outdo me with his soul, so I have declared Paradise forbidden for him.
- Indeed Allah is to you ever Merciful.
Ayah 30:
- And who ever does this, who commits such acts of transgression and does injustice. (those mentioned above) (the one who consumes exchanges wealth unjustly with aggression)
- Allah will make him enter and roast in the hellfire.
- And this is very easy for Allah to do. easy for Him to enter the criminals into the Fire.
Ayah 31:
- If you all avoid big sins that are forbidden by Allah, Allah will expiate your small sins and will allow you to enter a place of great honor.
- A noble entrance.
- Sayyiath referring to minor when with Kaba-ir in same sentence.
- Kaba-ir is major sins.
- Major sins: 7 great destructive sins:
-
- Shirk
- magic
- kill life unless for a just cause
- interest
- consigning orphans property
- fleeing from battlefield
- accusing chaste women.
- Narrated by Ahu Hurairah, the Prophet Sal said :“Avoid the seven great destructive sins”. They (the people) asked, “O Allah’s Messenger, what are they?” He said “To join partners in worship with Allah, to practice sorcery, to kill a person which has been forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law), to eat up Riba, to eat up the property of an orphan, to show one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting and to accuse chaste women who never even think of anything their chastity and are good believers”Bukhari/Muslim
- Prophet Sal. said :“Should I tell you about the biggest of major sins – to tell a false statement (i.e. a lie) or to give a false testimony”(Anas)
- Ibn Masud asked “what is the greatest sin?” Prophet Sal. said : To make a rival for Allah, to kill your offspring for fear that you might share your food with them, to commit adultery with your neighbours wife”Bukhari & Muslim
- أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ؟»“Should I inform you about the greatest of the great sins) We said, `Yes, O Allah’s Messenger !’ He said,
- To join others in worship with Allah and to be undutiful to one’s parents” He was reclining, then he sat up and said;«أَلَا وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ، أَلَا وَقَوْلُ الزُّور»“And I warn you against false testimony and false speech” and he continued repeating it until we wished that he would stop.” Except those who repent”
- Abdullah bin `Amr said that the Messenger of Allah said,«إِنَّ مِنْ أَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ أَنْ يَلْعَنَ الرَّجُلُ وَالِدَيْه»“Among the worst of the major sins is for a man to curse his own parents.” They said, “How can one curse his own parents” He said,«يَسُبُّ الرَّجُلُ أَبَا الرَّجُلِ، فَيَسُبُّ أَبَاهُ، وَيَسُبُّ أُمَّهُ فَيَسُبُّ أُمَّه»One curses another man’s father, and that man curses his father in retaliation, or he curses someone’s mother and that man curses his mother”Muslim.
- Good actions do away with the bad actions
- think about how many sins do we commit on a daily basis.
- even one sin per day= 30 sins per month=365 sins per year.
- dont let any opportunity to do good, leave our hands.
- avoid big sins, and do righteous actions to get our small sins forgiven.
- One Jumuah to the next wipes away bad deeds
- One Umrah to the next wipes away bad deeds
- Good deeds wipe away bad deeds
- to get to jannah need to make sacrifices here, need to let go of temporary satisfaction to have eternal satisfaction there
Ayah 32:
- And dont long for what Allah has given more to others.
- Allah didn’t create everyone and everything equal.
- even our own hands are not the same or equal
- when someone has less in this life of smthg the start to get anxious and forget to see what they do actually have rather than what they dont have.
- dont wish for things that makes some of you exceed others
- this causes unrest, jealously etc.
- dont wish for what others have.
- men will be rewarded according to their deeds and women will be rewarded according to their deeds.
- many women long for what men have. rather than the other way around.
- The context of why this verse was revealed:Imam Ahmad recorded that Umme Salamah said, “O Messenger of Allah! Men go to battle, but we do not go to battle, and we earn one-half of the inheritance (that men get).” Allah sent down,وَلاَ تَتَمَنَّوْاْ مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ(And wish not for the things in which Allah has made some of you to excel others).
- This is the division that Allah has ordained.
- there will always be differences, not all can be same or equal.
- every blessing is a test!
- dont be jealous. dont make unfair comparisons with others and you.
- This is also forbidden. Because Allah says For men there is reward for what they have earned, (and likewise) for women there is reward for what they have earned
- Do what you can do with you have and pass your tests.
- excel in what you are good at. and let others excel in what they are good at.
- you will be tested with what you have. make sure you are not failing your own test.
- be the best in your now individual capacity. you will not attain closeness to Allah, by longing and being someone else. do your best with what Allah has given you. how can you attain His nearness with what He has given. using the skills and abilities He has given you.
- Ask Allah from His grace and bounty
- Prophet’s Dua: Allahumma inni as’aluka min Fadzlikal Azeem “Allah, I ask You of Your Mighty Grace”
- Indeed Allah is knowing of everything
- intelligent are those who accept what Allah has ordained.
Ayah 33:
- For all dying person there are for you heirs. those who inherit from the deceased. Close relations.
- For all We have made heirs who will inherit from him/her.
- We appointed relatives who will inherit what you inherited from your own parents
- and to those who you have tied oaths to. give them their fair share. oath of friendship. (this was later abrogated)- now it means give them their fair share by writing a will.through the will. can be advice doesn’t have to be wealth.
- • This verse came before the Laws of Inheritance and this verse has now been abrogated.
- • But it refers to a custom where the Arabs would say to their friends “I’ll inherit from you, you inherit from me” – by saying this they would be made Haleef- they would have a bond between each other
- مَوَالِىَ = Wali• According to Ibn Abas, مَوَالِىَ are heirs and relations, family, friends/close intimate friends who were all given inheritance.
- Dont interfere with the commands of Allah, He decides who gets what.
- indeed Allah is over all things a witness.
Ayah 34:
- men are in charge of women. maintainers and protectors of women. their wives.
- to manage, to protect and watch, to give rise and make to stand (to support).
- they are in charge of women.
- الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَآءِ Men are the protectors and maintainers of women
- قَوَّامُونَ = (a superlative noun in Arabic) and means :• Supervisor, Controller, Maintainer, Guardian, Custodian, Manager, Protector, Caretaker, Organizer
- • (it is not dictators or tyrants over women or boss)
- Root word meaning : To accomplish, to take care of, to preserve, to watch overA related word means: Uprightness, strength, firmness, consistency, support, livelihood
- These are images of the Muslim man. This is what the Muslim man should be and the word قَوَّامُ implies all these.
- • So قَوَّامُونَ is a person responsible for administering and supervising the affairs of either an individual or an organization for protecting and safeguarding them and taking care of their needs. Someone who fulfills the needs of the Muslim woman.
- • And not just providing for the woman’s financial or material needs. But taking care of her emotional needs, sensitive towards her,
- By right of what Allah has given to right over the other. Allah has made those in charge.
- In sum الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَآءِ• Firstly : it implies he has to take care of her• Allah is protecting the rights of women• Secondly : it implies that the man has been given a degree of authority over the woman (authority does not mean superiority but double burden of responsibility)
- physical strength, mental strength, emotional stability- is what Allah has given them over women. Allah made man physically stronger and intellectually strong and emotionally stronger (there are exceptions though – but this is the general case)
- It doesn’t mean that every single man is better than every single woman. this is in general
- and from what they spend from their own wealth. for maintaining their women.
- righteous woman are devoutly obedient. guarding in their husbands absent. they are righteous, correct. humble and obedient. to Allah and to their husbands as well.
- They are not harsh, domineering. they accept that husband has the role of authority in the household.
- they the wife, guard and protect the close relationship of husband and wife. they keep intimate matters of their relationship between husband and wife. nobody else. they don’t share these details of their relationship with others. guard the secrets and weaknesses of the husband. **
- unless its an exceptional case: like abuse or oppression etc.
- guard the wealth property and children of husband while he is away.
- they protect their own and his honor. and dont betray him
- “The best women is she who when you look at her, she pleases you, when you command her she obeys you and when you are absent, she protects her honour and your property”
- if after all this wife, decides not to listen, disobey, or are arrogant: she talks down to him, she rebels, she thinks she’s higher than him, she refuses him intimacy: must first soften heart through words. talk to her kindly. softening advice. this is the first step. with love affection gentleness. counsel her. 1st stage.
- If she still doesnt listen after the kind words from husband: 2nd stage is: separate from her. forsake them in bed. dont be physically intimate with them, Ignore them.
- 3rd stage: to strike them. with “fi”. means to beat them lightly. this is not a command, its an allowance. doesn’t mean to beat her up.
- its a disciplinary measure when really needed as a last resort.
- doesn’t give men the license to strike, beat and cut them wherever they want. not a license for domestic violence.
- the best men will never strike their women
- Prophet Sal. stance on this last step :“Good men amongst you will not beat”
- Striking:
-
- should not be on face
- should not leave any marks
- striking using a miswak, toothbrush.
- Omar said :“Those who hit their wives, you will find they are not good people
- Prophet Sal. said At the Hajjethul Widah“Fear Allah regarding women, for they are your assistants. You have the right on them that they do not allow any person whom you dislike to step on your mat. However, if they do that, you are allowed to discipline them lightly. They have a right on you that you provide them with their provision and clothes, in a reasonable manner.
- and if having to strike her, dont do it in front of family and friends and children. do it wisely in private. and should not be for little things like food was bad, laundry wasn’t done. its for Nushooz. for rebellion or arrogance. and its the last stage.
- and then it doesn’t mean keep beating for years and days and months etc. if the problem is not being solved, separate and divorce go seperate ways.
Ayah 35:
- and if you fear the rift is getting larger and larger and fear separation or dissension. then send a 3rd party from his side and one from her side. an arbitrator.
- and if they want reconciliation. Allah will reconcile them.
- and Allah is ever knowing and all aware. acquainted with all things. all matters.
Ayah 36:
- And worship Allah. Ibadah- submissiveness and humility, servitude. Entails living your life according to the will of Allah. He is the most aware of our needs, and He is our best well-wisher. It is His right, that we exclusivity submit and please, and worship only Him. Only Him Alone.
- And do not associate anything or any partners with Him. Shirk literally means to give a share to someone. When shirk happens you are including someone else into what is Allah’s exclusive right. No other process or object should have a share in that.
- Prophet said to Mu`adh,“Do you know what Allah’s right on His servants is” Mu`adh replied, “Allah and His Messenger know better” He said : “That they should worship Him and should not worship any others with Him.” The Prophet then said: “Do you know what the right of the servants on Allah is if they do this He should not punish them”
- And with parents do utmost good. Ihsan. Be generous, forgiving, being beautiful. Not just, be nice if they are nice to you. Ihsan, means to go above and beyond that. Parents sacrifice a lot for their children. Ihsan is all the ways you can make the parents happy. They have the most right on us. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, must do insHan all of these categories of people. This is worshipping Allah. To treat parents the way Allah has commanded us. Disobedience to parents is a major sin.
- And with close relatives, (the ones who are closest have the most right and then so on and so forth) the needy (one who cannot fulfill the basic needs of life) and the orphans (must do Ihsan with them too) bc they are the weak members of the society. Even if you dont get anything in return from them, with no strings attached. show them good treatment without causing any harm.
- And the close neighbors (who is also a relative) (related neighbor)- such as in a joint family system. This also includes the one whose home is closest to you. The related on or living close to you.
- and far neighbors who is a stranger. not related to you or just living farther away.
- Both far and close neighbors should be treated with ihsaan.
- Prophet Sal. said :“Jibreel kept reminding me of the neighbour’s right, until I though he was going to appoint a share of the inheritance for him” i.e. the neighbor will have the same right as the relative Ahamed
- Hadith Imam Ahmad recorded that Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad said that the Messenger of Allah asked his Companions,«مَا تَقُولُونَ فِي الزِّنَا؟»(What do you say about adultery) They said, “It is prohibited, for Allah and His Messenger have prohibited it. So it is forbidden until the Day of Resurrection.” The Messenger of Allah said,«لَأَنْ يَزْنِيَ الرَّجُلُ بِعَشْرِ نِسْوَةٍ، أَيْسَرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَزْنِيَ بِامْرَأَةِ جَارِه»(For a man to commit adultery with his neighbor’s wife is worse than if he commits adultery with ten women.) He then said,«مَا تَقُولُونَ فِي السَّرِقَةِ؟»(What do you say about theft) They said, “It is prohibited, for Allah and His Messenger prohibited it.” He said,«لَأَنْ يَسْرِقَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ عَشْرَةِ أَبْيَاتٍ، أَيْسَرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْرِقَ مِنْ جَارِه»(If a man steals from his neighbor, it is worse for him than stealing from ten homes.) Only Ahmad recorded this Hadith. A similar Hadith is recorded in the Two Sahihs, Ibn Mas`ud said, “I asked, `O Allah’s Messenger! What is the greatest sin’ He said,«أَنْ تَجْعَلَ للهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَك»(To make a rival for Allah while He Alone created you.) I said, `Then’ He said,«أَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ مَعَك»(To kill your offspring for fear that he might share your food with you.) I said, `Then’ He said,«أَنْ تُزَانِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِك»(To commit adultery with your neighbor’s wife.)” The Fifth Hadith Imam Ahmad recorded that `A’ishah asked the Messenger of Allah, “I have two neighbors, so whom among them should I give my gift” He said,«إِلى أَقْرَبِهِمَا مِنْكِ بَابًا»(The neighbor whose door is the closest to you.)
- Your neighbor has rights too.
- And the companion by your side. the one who sits with you, friends, colleagues, co workers, co-travellers, some say even your spouse. anyone who is in your company.
- Good treatment to all of these people is required.
- And the travelers-have etiquette and manners when traveling. with the way you sit, your luggage, your language etc. Have Ihsan on the road, even if you are in different cars, bc you are all travelers on the road together. So be nice to them too: when signaling, when parking, when driving, etc.
- If a traveler comes to your home; must do ihsan to them too. If a traveler is lost, help him/her.
- And your slaves (whom your right hand possess), this includes animals, pets, livestock. Be good to all of these.
- HadithAn authentic Hadith records that during the illness that preceded his death, the Messenger of Allah continued advising his Ummah:«الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُم»((Protect) the prayer, (protect) the prayer, and (those slaves) whom your hands possess.) He was repeating it until his tongue was still. Imam Ahmad recorded that Al-Miqdam bin Ma`dykarib said that the Messenger of Allah said,«مَا أَطْعَمْتَ نَفْسَكَ فَهُوَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَمَا أَطْعَمْتَ وَلَدَكَ فَهُوَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَمَا أَطْعَمْتَ زَوْجَتَكَ فَهُوَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ، وَمَا أَطْعَمْتَ خَادِمَكَ فَهُوَ لَكَ صَدَقَة»(What you feed yourself is a Sadaqah (charity) for you, what you feed your children is Sadaqah for you, what you feed your wife is Sadaqah for you and what you feed your servant is Sadaqah for you.) An-Nasa’i recorded this Hadith which has an authentic chain of narration, all the thanks are due to Allah. `Abdullah bin `Amr said to a caretaker of his, “Did you give the slaves their food yet” He said, “No.” Ibn `Amr said, “Go and give it to them, for the Messenger of Allah said,«كَفَى بِالْمَرْءِ إِثْمًا أَنْ يَحْبِسَ عَمَّنْ يَمْلِكُ قُوتَهُم»(It is enough sin for someone to prevent whomever he is responsible for from getting their food. )” Muslim recorded this Hadith. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said,«لِلْمَمْلُوكِ طَعَامُهُ وَكِسْوَتُهُ، وَلَا يُكَلَّفُ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ إِلَّا مَا يُطِيق»(The slave has the right to have food, clothing and to only be required to perform what he can bear of work.) Muslim also recorded this Hadith. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said,«إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدَكُمْ خَادِمُهُ بِطَعَامِه، فَإِنْ لَمْ يُجْلِسْهُ مَعَهُ فَلْيُنَاوِلْهُ لُقْمَةً أَوْ لُقْمَتَيْنِ أَوْ أُكْلَةً أَوْ أُكْلتَيْنِ فَإِنَّهُ وَلِيَ حَرَّهُ وَعِلَاجَه»(When your servant brings meals to one of you, if he does not let him sit and share the meal, then he should at least give him a mouthful or two mouthfuls of that meal or a meal or two, for he has prepared it.) This is the wording collected by Al-Bukhari.The slave has the right to have food, clothing and to perform only duties that he can bearMuslim
- Indeed Allah does not love those who are boastful and proud and self-deluding. they will be deprived of Allah’s love. Bc they look down on others, they think they are better then others.
- Any good that we do should not cause us to be proud and boastful. Not cause us to look down at others.
- Prophet Sal. said :“Whoever has in his heart pride the weight of even a mustard seed will not enter Paradise”
Ayah 37:
- Those who are stingy and miserly and command other people to be miserly and stingy. Not spending where one should spend. In terms of wealth and knowledge. And then discouraging others to be stingy as well.
- And those who hide what Allah has blessed and given them out of His bounty and Fadl. Hide deliberately so that nobody else can ask for it. They collect and hoard and not even spend on themselves. They hide and collect it, so that no others will know about it and want to ask them for it.
- Hadith states that,«إِنَّ اللهَ إِذَا أَنْعَمَ نِعْمَةً عَلى عَبْدٍ،أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَظْهَرَ أَثَرُهَا عَلَيْه»(When Allah grants a servant a favor, He likes that its effect appears on him.)
- Be aware of stinginess. be aware of greed. be aware of miserliness.
- This can lead to sins and severing relations with family members.!
- Allah has prepared for these people who disbelieve, a humiliating punishment
- Hiding favors of Allah, wealth knowledge etc, is a great crime. Punishment is sever one.
Ayah 38:
- And those who spend their wealth to be shown off to people. to be seen by others. so that they get praised by them.
- they are self centered.
- Want to keep wealth to themselves, or if they spend it, want it to be seen by others what they spend. for show off.
- They think that whatever they spend, their wealth will be reduced.
- And don’t believe in Allah, or the Last Day and whoever has shaitan as close companion or friend, how bad and horrible a companion he is.
- Prophet Sal. said in a narration by Ahmed :Performing Salah to show off is shirk, Fasting to show off is shirk, Charity to show off is shirk
- A Hadith states that the first three persons on whom the fire will feed are a scholar, a fighter and a spender who shows off with their actions. (The wealthy will say, “I did not leave any area that You like to be spent on, but I spent on it in Your cause.” Allah will say, “You lie, you only did that so that it is said, `He is generous.’ And it was said…”) meaning you acquired your reward in the life, and this is indeed what you sought with your action. This is why Allah said,[وَلاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلاَ بِالْيَوْمِ الاٌّخِرِ](and believe not in Allah and the Last Day,) meaning, it is Shaytan who lured them to commit this evil action, instead of performing the good deed as it should be performed.
Ayah 39:
- What would be the problem on them if they believed in Allah, and the Last day?
- Fixing their Imaan first.
- Fixing the Imaan will allow them to find their ways to do good.
- and spent on what Allah gave them? what harm would this have caused them?
- If you dont spend the wealth that you have been giving by Allah, this is wrong and its a test on you. the wealth is not for you to hoard and keep for yourself.
- Allah knows them all.
Ayah 40:
- Indeed Allah doesn’t do injustice even of atoms weight.
- if anything He doubles or multiplies the good deed.
- and gives a great reward from near Him.
- He looks at the state of our hearts. sincerity and correctness of method is needed.
Ayah 41:
- Question of amazement
- How will it be on that Day when their willl be a witness from every nation, a prophet.
- The message they were sent with and were they able to pass it along to the people.
- And Allah says He brought Prophet Muhammad a witness over the people. over all of them. That the Prophet Muhammad (saw) will witness that the previous prophets conveyed the message to the previous nations.
- For example in the Akhira – When a Prophet is called upon to testify and he says “I bear witness I have conveyed” and the people start lying saying that their Prophet did not convey to them, then Prophet Sal. will testify for them.
- • Each Prophet will testify for their nation
- • Secondly Prophet Sal. will testify for all the Prophets
- • From this we learn the high status of prophet sal that he will witness over the other prophets.
- How?• Because of Quran
- Hadith Abdullah bin Masood said Prophet Sal. said : “Recite to me”. I said “should I recite Quran like it was recited to you” and he said “yes, for I like to hear it from other people”. Then Abu Masood said: I recited Surah An-Nisa until I reached this Ayat and Prophet Sal. said “stop now”. I found his eyes tearful.
Ayah 42:
- that Day those who disbelieved and disobeyed the messengers will wish that they could be covered by the earth, leveled with ground the earth.
- and will not hide from any of it. any statement or fact.
AYah 43:
- believers dont pray in a state of drunkness, bc then you dont know what you are saying.
- dont approach prayer until you know what you are saying. bc when you are drunk you dont know what you are saying.
- Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas said that the Messenger of Allah said,«إِذَا نَعَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي، فَلْيَنْصَرِفْ فَلْيَنَمْ، حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ مَا يَقُول»If one feels sleepy while he is praying, let him sleep for a while so that he knows the meaning of what he is saying«فَلَعَلَّهُ يَذْهَبُ يَسْتَغْفِرُ فَيَسُبَّ نَفْسَه»For he might want to ask for forgiveness, but instead curses himself!Al-Bukhari and An-Nasa’i.
- or when in state of impurity.
- in the state menstruation can enter and get smthg and leave the masjid. but should refrain from sitting there for a long time.
- until you wash take shower or bath
- and if you are sick or using water will cause bad health effects or hurt health.
- or upon a journey
- or comes from the toilet
- or you have contacted had sexual intercourse with a woman.
- or no water is available.
- then perform tayammum.
- tayamuum: methods.: strike the soil, dust off the soil, wipe over face, hands,
- Reasons doing for performing Thayyamum (if there’s no water for Ghusl)• End menstruation• After sexual impurity
- Procedure for Thayyamum (according to the Sunnah)• Strike your hands on clean dust or earth blow off, then wipe your face and hands • With the intention in your heart
- indeed Allah is most forgiving and Always pardoning.
- Allah’s Messenger saw a person sitting away from the people and not praying with them. He asked him, `O so-and-so! What prevented you from offering the prayer with the people, are not you Muslim’ He replied, `Yes, O Allah’s Messenger! I am Junub and there is no water.’ The Prophet said, `Perform Tayammum with clean earth and that will be sufficient for you.’) The linguistic meaning of Tayammum is to intend, as Arabs say, “May Allah Tayammamaka (direct at you) His care.” `Clean earth’ means dust. In his Sahih, Muslim recorded that Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman said that the Messenger of Allah said,Muslim recorded that Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman said that the Messenger of Allah said,«فُضِّلْنَا عَلَى النَّاسِ بِثَلَاثٍ: جُعِلَتْ صُفُوفُنَا كَصُفُوفِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ، وَجُعِلَتْ لَنَا الْأَرْضُ كُلُّهَا مَسْجِدًا، وَجُعِلَتْ تُرْبَتُهَا لَنَا طَهُورًا، إِذَا لَمْ نَجِدِ الْمَاء»We were given preference over people in three things. Our lines (in prayer) were arranged in rows to resemble the rows of the angels, all of the earth was made a Masjid for us, and its dust was made clean for us when there is no water.
Ayah 44:
- Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the bOok.
- They purchased error for themselves. And want you to lose the right way as well.
Ayah 45:
- Allah knows your enemies well.
- Often we are afraid of people in this world, who make us suffer in this world or this life.
- But in reality our true enemy is the one who harms our Akirah. Those who make it extremely difficult for us to practice Deen.
- Sometimes they seem or appear to be our very good friends. but they plan to fail us in the hereafter. Doesn’t matter how we suffer here or how they hurt us here. but if they are causing loss of our hereafter that is the worst.
- Anyone who encourages us to sin, disobey Allah and His Messenger, to disrespect others.
- We must realize who our enemies are.
- We don’t need the protection of the people when we have the protection of Allah.
- We don’t need the help of people, wen Allah is Himself helping us.
- Therefore we must rely only on Allah.
- sufficient is Allah an aly and a helper.
- Sufficient is Allah to protect you.
- hasbunal lahu wa niemal waqeel: must remember to say this dua.
-
and from the Jews are those who distort the words from its proper places. They would twist the tongues to slander the true deen.
-
they would say: we hear and we disobey
-
they would say: “hear, may you ( o Muhammad) hear nothing”
-
defaming the Deen
-
very few among them bring Imaan
-
Oh you who have been given the scripture. (jews and christians)
-
believe in what We have sent down to Muhammad that confirms what is with you ( jews and christians)
-
believe in it before Allah effaces you, before your faces are disfigured.
-
physically disfigured. nose, mouth ears and eyes obliterated.
-
Bc Allah has given us these faculties to recognize the truth, and if we don’t use it for that, what good are these faculties.
-
it can be mean also losing tawfeeq, as well.
-
Scholars gave a lot of thought to this and the conculusion is• 2nd meaning has already happened – they have eyes, ears, but the taufeeq • 1st meaning literally faces disfigured has not happened and this warning will take place on the Day of Judgment
-
So confirm and believe, before We efface/obliterate your faces and turn them on their backs. putting faces on their backs.
-
Or before We lay curse on it, like We laid Our curse on the Sabbath breakers.
-
Remember Allah’s command is always executed.
-
this warning is still there til the DoJ. if they follow this example.
-
if you dont do what you are supposed to do, consequences are very severe.
-
Allah doesn’t forgive associating with Him
-
He doesn’t forgive shirk. Holding anything or anything as equal to Allah. this is shirk and unforgivable.
-
He is the only and Alone worthy of worship.
-
equate any false deity to Allah.
-
He who fabricates partners with Allah, is a great big sin.
-
Imaan is between fear and hope
Ayah 49:
- Have you not seen the ones who claim themselves to be pure? statements. constantly defending yourself. constantly denying. for ex: someone thinks you are stingy person. so you drop everything and focus on stating and presenting excuses to defend yourself and saying that you are not stingy.
- instead do the deeds, show through actions that you are not stingy. for example.
- Bani Israel used to claim they are better than the rest. they would say that nobody but a jew or christian will enter heaven. they would think they that they have such a high status, so they will not be caught punished, and will be forgiven. these are the claims they would make. but that is totally a sin, this is a lie against Allah. to declare smthg is true that is actually untrue.
- But the one who is is sincere is worried about what Allah thinks of him rather than what people see and think. he will fear Allah and try to please Him, not people. Rather than being on the defensive.
- Allah will purify whom He wills.
- And no injustice even the size of a fine hair/thread on the date seed stone, will done on them.
- Allahumma inni ‘audhubika ana ushrika bika wa ana ‘alam wa astaghfiruka lima laa ‘alam
- We should not ever claim purity through words. statements should be made to claim that we are pure ourselves.
- We should try to achieve purity through actions.
- Quranic and masnun dua page 23, dua #8
- In a Hadith by Muslim we learn that Muhammed bin Amth said “I named my daughter Barra (meaning good/pious). So Zainub bint Abi Salama (Umme Salama was the wife of Prophet Sal. – her daughter by her 1st husband – Zainub) came to this man and said Rasoolullah Sal. has forbidden this name. I was named Barra and Rasoolullah Sal. said “Don’t claim purity for yourself. Allah knows best those amongst you who are truly good. So they asked “what should we name her then?” He said “Name her Zainub”.
- Your name should be meaningful. But it should not be a name that conforms a virtue that you don’t know about
- Purification is achieved by good deeds not words.
- Allah purifies us by granting us opportunity for goodness.
Ayah 50:
- Look how they fabricate against Allah lies.
- this is enough as an open explicit sin.
- we must never claim that we will attain Jannah, or someone else.
- the Jews made the statement or claim that they were going to heaven/Jannah.
-
Did you not see, have you not considered, the ones (the jews and their scholars) who were given a portion of the Book?
-
They believe in superstition and Taghut, false deities. Jibt: socrierty, magic, fortune telling, charms.
-
Taghut: those who take away from Imaan. invite others to worship them. It can be a person, persons, an idol
-
Jibt is sorcery. Taghut is shaytan.
-
According to Umar Rali he said : Al-Jibth is Sihr (it is magic), Umar Rali. said Taghut is specifically Shaytan
-
they say that the unbelievers ( the pagans of Makkah) are better guided than the believers.
-
Jews are saying that the Pagans/mushrikeen are better guided than the muslims to the way of life.
-
Jews were living in Madina and have interaction with the Mushrikeen of Makkah and would help them attack the muslims.
-
Jew were jealous of the muslims.
-
Jews were in madina in the first place, bc they knew of the final messenger that would be coming to land of date palms. But when he did come they rejected him bc he was not of their lineage.
-
Despite having knowledge, despite having divine knowledge, the people of the Book, (Jew and christians) still believed in superstition and false deities. They should have been able to differentiate between right and wrong.
-
Prophet Sal. said in a narration by Abu Dawud“The practice of *Iyafa, and “Thiarathu”- bad omens the interpretation of omens from the flight of birds, And “Tharqu”- throwing rocks to determine ones fate the practice of divination by drawing lines on the ground and taking evil omens are all practices of جِبْتِ the sorcerer”
-
bad omens: 13, black cat crossing, black crow, glass breaks. these are at thiarah. this is all shirk to believe in these superstitions.
-
to determine fate from the sound of certain creatures: bird flying in a certain direction, sound of an animal,
-
zodiac signs, palm reading, holding the Quran over the brides head.
-
These are all superstitious behaviors.
-
• Al-Jibth It is a comprehensive term that is used for superstition magic, fortune telling, zodiac signs, tricks (and there is no khair on them)
-
Jews considered friday to be an unlucky day, considered 13 to be unlucky. But considered 13 year old boy to have a big celebration, break glass at wedding to run off evil spirits, think they were given 613 commands. these are all their superstitions, that was whisperings from the shay tan. and all these were left unchecked and kept building up more and more.
-
Jibt and Taghut. to believe in this is to emulate the jews and disbelievers.
-
These are the ones who are cursed by Allah. and the one who is cursed by Allah, can find no other helper.
-
Do they ( jews) have a share in the kingdom?
-
If they had any share in it, they would not have given other people equal to a speck on a date seed. the masses would not get anything.
-
Jews are the most stingy of all people. their savings are quite different from other people and nations.
-
If they had a share in the dominion they would not give anything to the people.
-
Not spend where you are supposed to spend ( Buqul)
-
are they jealous or envious upon what Allah gave them from His grace. If so let them know that Allah gave the book and wisdom to the descendants of Ibraheem, and blessed him with a great kingdom. ( which is the family of the bani israel essentially)
-
Hasad: negative feelings of jealously. This is not allowed.
-
dont prolong resentment for too long
-
jealousy is one of the major sins, do tawbah or it won’t be forgiven.
-
backbiting can be due to jealously too.
-
jews were jealous of how the people looked and believed the Messenger. bc then their own religious authority would decrease.
-
Jealous people cause harm to others. Its like a fire inside you. it eats you up.
-
Solution to this: Make dua for the person you are jealous towards. say ماشالله,
-
Look at what you have and dont look at what others have.
-
Jews should look at the blessings that their family were given, the family of Ibrahim. wisdom and scripture. already. a great kingdom.
-
Jews are being told, why are you jealous of the believers, look at what you were given and look what you did with what you had.
-
And some among the Jew Bani Israel, in him, The messenger (saw)
-
and some among them were averse to him. the messenger (saw)
-
And sufficient is for those who turned people away from the messenger, blazing hellfire to burn them.
-
Out of the Bani Israel, some of them believed the Prophets of their time and some of them did not believe. So those who disputed with their Prophets, how could you expect them to accept Prophet Sal.
-
And indeed those who rejected/denied the revelations, the signs, the truth
-
signs that lead to believe in the truth.
-
And soon, Allah shall enter them to burn in the hellfire.
-
and every time their skins will burn/roasted through, Allah will replace their skins so that to burns it again, over and over again.
-
this is the taste of real torment.
-
punishment is felt on the skin, pain is felt on the skin. pain receptors are on the skin.
-
Allah is the most powerful and most Wise. exalted in might.
-
Azeez: most ability, most honor, most dominant, most mighty
-
He has authority and decisive power.
-
He legislates what is halal and what is haram.
-
It is said that the area from the ear lobe to the neck will expand to a distance of 700 years and the thickness of the skin will be 70 hand spans and the size of the jaws will be the size of Mt. Uhud
-
The lightest punishment in Jahannam is that a person will be made to wear shoes of fire and this will make the brain boil
-
Abi Hatim and Al Hasan said :“Their skins will be roasted through 70,000 times every day”
-
Al Hasan also said :”Whenever the Fire has roasted them through and consumed their flesh, they will be told, `Go back as you were before,’ and they will.”
-
Those who believe and do righteous deeds
-
Allah will make them enter Jannat. and live and abide there forever. gardens with rivers flowing
-
Very soon Allah will admit them into Jannat. meaning reward is near. very near.
-
Jannah where rivers flow – a river of wine, milk, honey and water (4 rivers)
-
in it purified spouses.
-
and Allah will admit them to deepening shade. cool and comfortable. cooling.
-
“In Paradise there is a sea of honey, a sea of wine, a sea of milk and a sea of water, and the rivers flow out of these seas.” [Jaami’ al-Usool, 10/508]
-
Al-Bukhari and Muslim recorded that Sahl bin Sa`d said that the Messenger of Allah said, (There is a tree in Paradise, if a rider travels in its shade for one hundred years, he would not be able to cross it.) An-Nu`man bin Abi `Ayyash Az-Zuraqi added, “Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri narrated to me that the Prophet said, (There is a tree in Paradise, if a rider travels in its shade on a fast, sleek horse for one hundred years, he would not be able to cross it.)
-
Indeed Allah orders you to give back the trusts to the rightful owners.
-
Fulfil trusts with people. Don’t betray the trusts. don’t misrepresent.
-
return the trust to their rightful owners.
-
Dont betray those who betray you though.
-
Prophet Saw said “Return the trusts of those who entrusted you and do not betray those who betray you”
-
Prophet (SAW) said, “The one who does not fulfill trusts has no faith, and the one who does not fulfill commitments has no religion.” (Ahmad)
-
assign duties to those who are capable of handling those duties and responsibilities. responsibilities are a trust. fulfill your responsibilities.
-
and when you judge between people. judge with fairness. with justice. between ALL people. be fair regardless of age, gender, religion, etc. in all matters.
-
Allah’s special support is with those who are fair and just.
-
And how excellent is Allah’s counsel/advice.
-
Allah is All seeing and all hearing. Nothing is hidden from Him.
-
A Hadith states, (Allah is with the judge as long as he does not commit injustice, for when he does, Allah will make him reliant on himself. The equitable will be seated upon pulpits of light before Allah : those who do justice in their decisions, with their families, and what is entrusted to them.” (Muslim)
- Oh you all who believe, obey Allah and obey His messenger and those in authority among you.
- Adhere to the teachings of the Quran. the words of Allah
- Obey the Messenger, Muhammad (saw)
- and those in authority among you: those who order good. enjoin good and correct. most just. those who promote teachings of Muhammad (saw), the scholars that state the truth. teach and encourage others to live by the truth. to emulate the example of the companions of Muhammad (saw). obey those individuals who teach us this. they convey and promote the truth. those who are given positions of responsibility.
- Obedience is only in what is correct. and it was approved and correct way. There is no obedience in the creation if it means to be disobedient to the Creator.
- Cooperate with each other in Birr and Taqwah. meaning cooperate with your teachers etc, for example.
- If you violate rules where you live or in the country you live in, that is injustice and this wrong. that is going against the Quran and Sunnah. We should just even if we are living in a non muslim country.
- If you disagree over anything, major or minor aspects of Deen. Refer it to Allah and Messenger, the Quran and the Sunnah.
- Now that he is no longer alive, look towards his teachings.
- If you really believe in Allah and the Last day.
- Consult Quran and Sunnah. Learn them, study them, to know them.
- That (the command mentioned in this ayah) is best way and best way in result. in terms of this world and hereafter. the end result, outcome will be good in both places. final results will be better if you do this. do what is commanded here. Best result means in this world and in the Hereafter
- That is better than the solutions than you will come up.
- live your life according to the Quran and Sunnah.
- Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas said that the Ayah(Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and those of you who are in authority.) “Was revealed about `Abdullah bin Hudhafah bin Qays bin `Adi, who the Messenger of Allah sent on a military expedition.” This statement was collected by the Group, with the exception of Ibn Majah At-Tirmidhi said, “Hasan, Gharib”. Imam Ahmad recorded that `Ali said, “The Messenger of Allah sent a troop under the command of a man from Al-Ansar. When they left, he became angry with them for some reason and said to them, `Has not the Messenger of Allah commanded you to obey me’ They said, `Yes.’ He said, `Collect some wood,’ and then he started a fire with the wood, saying, `I command you to enter the fire.’ The people almost entered the fire, but a young man among them said, `You only ran away from the Fire to Allah’s Messenger. Therefore, do not rush until you go back to Allah’s Messenger, and if he commands you to enter it, then enter it.’ When they went back to Allah’s Messenger , they told him what had happened, and the Messenger said,(Had you entered it, you would never have departed from it. Obedience is only in righteousness.)” This Hadith is recorded in the Two Sahihs.
-
Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you.
-
But they wish to refer to legislation to Taghut. while they were commanded to reject it. ( taGHUT) they wish to go Taghut for judgement, even though they were commanded not to do this.
-
Shaitain wishes to lead them far astray, far from Haqq. Shaitan wants people to go to taGhut.
-
Reason behind revealing this Ayat:
-
-
It was reported that the reason behind revealing this Ayah was that a man from the Ansar and a Jew had a dispute, and the Jew said, “Let us refer to Muhammad to judge between us.” However, the Muslim man said, “Let us refer to Ka`b bin Al-Ashraf (a Jew) to judge between us.”
-
-
It is ironical that the Jew wanted to go to the Muslim’s Prophet because he believed that Prophet Sal. would give a fair, impartial judgment. This shows Prophet Sal. supreme honesty that even a Jew wanted to go for judgment to him. And Bishr of course new that he would give a fair judgment and he didn’t want a fair judgment so he wanted to go to the corrupt leader of the Jews. The Jew overruled him and they went for Judgment to the Prophet Sal. and he gave judgment in the Jew’s favour. The Jew was delighted but Bishr was furious. He said he couldn’t accept it and wanted to go to Umar Rali. for judgment because he thought Umar always favoured the Muslims over the Jews (though he was mistaken). So they went to Umar and the Jew related to whole story to Umar and said that Prophet Sal. ruled in his favour. Umar Rali. went into his house, brought out his sword and killed Bishr and said this is my judgment for one who cannot accept the judgment of the Prophet Sal. • There was an outcry amongst the Muslims who ran to Prophet Sal. and said Umar had killed a Muslim • Whereupon these verses were revealed from which Umar Rali. was absolved of this because the man was a hypocrite• It was also reported that the Ayah was revealed about some hypocrites who pretended to be Muslims, yet they sought to refer to the judgment of Jahiliyyah. • Other reasons were also reported behind the revelation of the Ayah. However, the Ayah has a general meaning, as it chastises all those who refrain from referring to the Qur’an and Sunnah for judgment and prefer the judgment of whatever they chose of falsehood, which befits the description of Taghut here.
-
Seeking Taghut is a sign of hypocrisy
-
Even we abandon Quran and Sunnah, today and seek judgment from other sources.
-
When trying to find solutions or looking for resolutions to disputes, where do we look to. Why dont we look to
-
when it is told to them to what Allah has revealed and the Sunnah
-
you see the hypocrites turning away from you in aversion.
-
They stop themselves and prevent others.
-
So how will it be when a calamity reaches them? disaster strikes them, bc of what their hands have put forth. ( the hypocrites)
-
their choice of Taghut exposes their hypocrisy
-
They come to swearing, make an oath, to finish off the dispute and pretend to show most loyalty to you.
-
when it is revealed they are hypocrites.
-
They claim they want good and reconciliation. they claim they want to resolve disputes in the best manner. But they are lieing
-
they are those, who Allah knows what is in their hearts.
-
and So speak to them (the hypocrites) in impactful, far reaching words. heart touching advice, that penetrates the heart.
-
dont taunt them, dont label them hypocrites, dont fight with them.
-
Muhammad (saw) never fought a battle with the hypocrites.
-
give them advice that softens the heart, speak in far reaching words.
-
speak in a beautiful manner so that it touches their hearts.
-
fix your heart to be able to speak to them nicely.
-
develop well wishing for people.
-
Allah didn’t send the messenger except to be obeyed by the permission by Allah
-
If these people wronged and disobeyed Allah ( those who went to taghut), if they would come to Messenger and seek forgiveness. to correct the matter. and ask for forgiveness.
-
And messenger would have asked forgiveness for them.
-
they would have found Allah accepting and merciful.
-
The purpose of the messenger coming is so that he be obeyed.
-
So not wrong to make dua for someone else. But this doesn’t mean you do this all the time. that you ask others all the time, and dont do it yourself. should not make it an overwhelming habit to ask others with lists of what to make dua for you.
- No! by Allah, they will not truly believe until they make you judge ( Muhammad) (saw)
- not until they make you judge (Muhammad) over what they dispute among themselves.
- Not until they go to you for decisions and resolving disputes. not until they make you judge in these matters that they dispute.
- and then when they dont find a problem or tightness or constriction in whatever you decide. no difficulty in accepting the sunnah. but instead accept in what you decide. accept in what you ( Muhammad (saw)) decide or teach.
- thats when they will truly be believers.
- and those are the ones who will submit completely
- that is a muslim, who hears the commands and submits and accepts completely.
- ?Muslim literally means: a camel whose hands are in the reigns of the master.?
-
And if We ( Allah) had commanded, decreed upon them, made an obligation on them to kill yourselves.
-
Or leave your homes
-
not many would have done it, except a few them.
-
the amount of people who actually obey are very few in number.
-
If they would have done what they were told, it would have been better for them and more firm for them. in strength and in firmness.
-
In firmer position.
-
the more a person obeys, the more they develop conviction.
-
one good action opens door for many more actions.
-
desires: eat more, sleep more, talk more, moody. these make us weak and slow us down.
-
solution to this: acquire knowledge, find out, to lead to conviction. have firm resolve. If you have a tendency to sleep in: find ways to wake you up.
-
This all requires discipline.
-
And then Allah would have given them from Him a great reward.
-
and extra great reward, from Him.
-
And they would have been guided to a straight path
-
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messengers, so those are the ones whose favor and blessings are upon.
-
from the prophets
-
and the truthful ones- the siddiqin.
-
and the martyrs- the shohada. (included are the scholars as well. possessors of knowledge) those who die in the way of Allah.
-
and the righteous – the Saliheen. opposite of faasiq.
-
All righteous people are not prophets though.
-
All prophets are saliheen though.
-
and excellent are those as companions.
-
This Ayah is the explanation of the ayah in Surah fatiha (siratal allad===wswreena an amTa alai him)
-
Ayesha Rali. said«مَا مِنْ نَبِيَ يَمْرَضُ إِلَّا خُيِّرَ بَيْنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَة»(Every Prophet who falls ill is given the choice between this life and the Hereafter.) During the illness that preceded his death, his voice became weak and I heard him saying,﴿مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَآءِ وَالصَّـلِحِينَ﴾(in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His grace, the Prophets, the true believers (Siddiqin), the martyrs and the righteous) I knew then that he was being given the choice.”Muslim
-
that is bounty, grace of Allah
-
and sufficient is Allah as Knower.
-
He knows everything.
-
He knows who deserves the tawfeeq, who should guided, who should get the grace and bounty.
-
Oh you have believed, take your necessary precautions.
-
either go forth in small groups or altogether. party after party, expedition after expedition or group after group.
-
Or leave altogether.
-
Fanfiroo = ن ف ر• Nufoor is to rush• To go out• Nafara to go out, to set out as a group collectively for the purpose of battle
-
take precautions, be cautious and alert and protect your self. take protection and rely on Allah.
-
dont be negligent. be prepared.
-
and there is amongst you who lingers behind
-
who will be lazy and stay behind and then will also encourage others to remain behind too.
-
these are the hypocrites
-
dont make them your role models.
-
and then if disaster/setback, calamity or misfortune strikes you, he (the hypocrite) then says Allah has favored me, in that I was not present with them as a witness. during that calamity. So basically the hypocrites say that Allah has favored me, that I didn’t die, and that the disaster didn’t strike them, bc they didn’t go out to fight.
-
this is the wrong perscpetive, this is the wrong thinking.
-
Hypocrites thinking that staying behind, and not being part of the calamity that struck the ones in the way of Allah, is actually a favor to them, this is wrong.
-
The one who Allah loves, then He takes work of Deen from them.
-
So if one incurs some kind of challenge or loss in that way, then that is a blessing.
-
And if bounty comes to you from Allah.
-
the hypocrite will say surely: i wish i was them so that I could attain great attainment.
-
Parenthetical insert before:
-
In this Ayat – the phrase Ka-an lam thakun baiynakum wa baiyyanahu mawaddathu is a Jumla Mu’tharidha – parenthetical sentence
-
(As if there had never been any love between him and you.)
-
Hypocrite doesn’t really love you. has no well wishing for you.
-
their eyes are on your wealth and war booty.
-
not well wishing, disloyal, a user, treacherous. untrustworthy.
-
a person cannot be a true believer unless they love Allah and Messenger more than this world and their own self.
-
Self Analysis• What do you want – what is the centre of your life? Where does your happiness lie? How much do you prefer the dheen over your desires
-
In today’s time we don’t have battles like the time of Prophet Sal. So take Salah – hayya alas salah do you respond immediately or do you procrastinate?
-
And not only in salah – in anything related to the dheen – what is your attitude?
-
Mawaddhu = و د د• Love, affection, such love in which a person is able to sacrifice something• It is used for a very strong and a very close relationship• A very strong bond between peopleOver here Mawaddu refers to friendship and brotherhood through Islam
-
So only those should fight in the way of Allah
-
fight those who trade this life of this world for the hereafter ( mushrik, disbelievers, hypocrites etc)
-
and whoever fights in the way and gets killed or is vicotorious, Allah will bestow upon him a great reward.
-
If someone suffers a worldly loss or setback in the world while fighting in the way of Allah. meaning is killed or loses money in the process.
-
although others will look at this person with pity.
-
These people are not to be pitied.
-
for them is great reward from Allah. Soon they will be granted a mighty reward from Allah.
-
the one who dies in the way of Allah, actually will be enjoying himself in the hereafter.
-
Prophet Sal. said“Allah guarantees that he who goes out to fight in His way believing in Him, affirming the truth of His Messenger, will either be admitted to Jannah or will be brought back to his home safely.”
-
What is the matter with you? ( oh believers)
-
that you don’t fight in the way of Allah?!
-
there is so much reward in it, you have so much potential and reward for it
-
and who are these weak and old oppressed , among the sick men, and women and children. who say: Allah take us out of this oppressed city of people ( makkah)
-
the people believers of makkah were tortured physically and mentally
-
Allah is saying: will you not fight these oppressors who are doing so much injustice zhulm.
-
Prophet Muhammad is motivating the believers through this verse
-
and they say, appoint for us from you a protecter and helper.
-
Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, “I and my mother were from the oppressed (in Makkah).”
-
Muslims that are oppressed in Makkah are making this dua.
-
So Allah sends this ayah: to encourage muslims to help those muslims that are suffering and oppressed in Makkah. help them, and fight for them.
-
Those who are believers fight in the cause of Allah
-
those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Taghut.
-
So fight against the allies of shaitan, meaning leaders of the Quraish, the mushrikeen.
-
its usually the leaders that cause a lot of trouble, so fight them directly. not the masses. they dont usually cause the trouble. fight the leaders
-
shaytans crafty schemes are weak
-
purpose of war is to exalt the word and name of Allah. to elevate His name, to promote Deen and stop injustice.
-
Islam doesn’t at all promote killing innocent people.
-
have you seen those who were told to restrain their from fighting and focus on other matters. make a plan first.
-
in makkah muslims weren’t allowed to fight the mushrikeen there bc muslims were: weak and fewer in number, sacred city and so fighting not allowed there.
-
but the mushrik were oppressing the muslims there. this was the mushriks fault.
-
So the muslims are told, to establish a plan first.
-
maybe timing to fighting the mushrik was not right yet.
-
those who fail to plan, they are planning to fail.
-
establish prayer, and give zaKah
-
Its though salat: you learn to make straight lines, follow one Imam, discipline, Salat is training.
-
and Give Zakat: by calculating. general spending is encouraged.
-
zakat was not mandatory yet, but it is encouraged to generally spend from your wealth.
-
now when they are commanded to fight, there was a group of men that feared men as they should fear Allah.
-
they feared the men, bc they could see them with their eyes then and feared their punishment.
-
or they would even go as far as saying: Oh Allah why have you made us obligated to fight.
-
“could you delay its implementation for a while.?”
-
they ask for a postponement.
-
dont be lazy, dont postpone, dont procrastinate.
-
But say this world is of temporary benefit. life of the hereafter is so much better for those who fear Allah.
-
If anything, if you lose in the way of fighting, you will end up at your next place in the hereafter. and that place is much superior. more more better and eternal
-
No injustice will be done to you even as much as date seed thread.
-
Dont fear death, go out int he way of Allah.
-
Wherever you may be, angel of Death will find you if need, death will overtake you.
-
Death will overtake you no matter where you are sitting, even in high towers. lofty towers, well constructed. even there.
-
angel of death, doesn’t make mistakes. he sees his target and makes his mark.
-
wherever you are, if death is decreed for you, wherever and whenever it is meant for you
-
you cannot escape death, regardless of going out for battle in the way of Allah, or not. its not necessary you will die on the battlefield. and its not necessary you will not die in your home inside.
-
the hypocrites say: when some good comes to them, they say its from Allah. but when bad comes, they say its from Muhammad (saw).
-
the hypocrites would say Muhammad (saw) is a source of bad luck, or evil omen. they would blame him for the bad.
-
but say: all bad things and good things are from Allah. He decides
-
what is the matter with those people (hypocrites) they can hardly understand any statement, the Deen.
-
bc they dont want to understand, bc they dont want to change, bc they dont want to sacrifice.
-
on one side during good times they would say they believed in the truth and Allah. But when bad things happen; they would blame the Deen and Muhammad (saw)
-
Weakness of faith is a disease: blaming Deen when you suffer a loss in this world.
-
whatever good that comes to you is from Allah
-
whatever that bad that comes to you is a consequence of your own sins.
-
this is how you are tested. this is your wake up call to see what you did. look at yourself. !!
-
Allah has sent Muhammad (saw) as a messenger, a mercy for people.
-
Deen is of ease and brings blessings. not evil!
-
And Allah is enough as witness.
-
Prophet Sal. said :“Whoever obeys me obeys Allah. Whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah”Ahmed
-
He whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah
-
bc Allah is the One Who has told us to obey the messenger. Bc Allah has ordered this.
-
Bc he has been given a duty by Allah.
-
We must follow his teachings.
-
and whoever turns away from the Messenger, We have sent you over them as task master.
-
meaning dont worry if they dont obey you,
-
the hypocrites would pledge obedience in front of the muslims and the messenger. they would say we believe as, customary saying. they would just say it.
-
but when they were alone, in the night, they would spend the night to plot to do other than what Messenger would say. would plot against him. to scheme.
-
2 faced personality
-
Allah records what they say and do at night.
-
night time is hidden from people, but nothing is hidden from ALlah
-
so just turn away from them, leave them alone
-
and trust Allah, Allah is sufficient enough as your Trustee.
-
Wayyiyaka Nastaeen page 7 dua no. 9*
-
If you want to combat the schemes and plots of others: Strengthen your connection and relationship with the Quran.
-
Why dont they research and think and ponder, study the Quran, then?
-
Quran will protect you bc it connects you to Allah.
-
its better than everything people are accumatling, bc these are Allahs words
-
if it was from anyone else than Allah, they would have found a lot of contractions and mistakes errors and ireegularity.
-
discrepancies
-
and when it came time they hear peace or danger, they would spread it quickly. fear.
-
instead of spreading it further, muslims are advised to refer it back to Messenger and those who have knowledge and authority and could have verified the information. could have done the research to see if the news was in fact true and then tell people what needs to be told.
-
This is better than spreading news carelessly.
-
and if not for the mercy of Allah, you have followed the shaitan, except for a few of you.
-
the one with knowledge should go into depths research and investigate and then inform the people. not just spread carelessly.
-
• Between battle of Uhud and Khanzak (trench) there was a lot of unrest. The Mushrikeen wanted to fight back, take revenge and they would incite other clans against the Muslims• This is the reason why Allah forbade that no rumour should be spread• But the hypocrites spread rumours that the Mushrikeen were coming to fight• This happens even today• So believers addressed that if a rumour comes to you, do not spread it
-
Prophet Sal. said :“Whoever relates something that he thinks is a lie, then he too is one of the two liars”
-
so be careful in forwarding everything you read or hear
-
So fight in the way of Allah, in sincerity , not showing off, but doing things to please Allah. not for pride or fame or money.
-
even if the hypocrites are with you are not. you are not responsibile for their burden
-
you are only accountable for yourself. nobody else.
-
encourage believers to support you, to fight with you, so they are saved.
-
so that they might overthrow the unbelievers. with the will of Allah. Allah may restrain the might of the unbelievers.
-
For Allah is greater in might and greater in punishment.
-
How did the Prophet Sal. encourage the believersAl-Bukhari recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said,«مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ، وَصَامَ رَمَضَانَ، كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّـةَ، هَاجَرَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ أَوْ جَلَسَ فِي أَرْضِهِ الَّتِي وُلِدَ فِيهَا»(Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, offers prayer, pays the Zakah and fasts the month of Ramadan, will rightfully be granted Paradise by Allah, no matter whether he migrates in Allah’s cause or remains in the land where he is born.) The people said, `O Allah’s Messenger! Shall we acquaint the people with this good news’ He said,«إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّـةِ مِائَةَ دَرَجَةٍ أَعَدَّهَا اللهُ لِلْمُجَاهِدِينَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، بَيْنَ كُلِّ دَرَجَتَيْنِ كَمَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ، فَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُ اللهَ فَاسْأَلُوهُ الْفِرْدَوْسَ، فَإِنَّهُ وَسَطُ الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَعْلَى الْجَنَّةِ، وَفَوْقَهُ عَرْشُ الرَّحْمنِ، وَمِنْهُ تَفَجَّرُ أَنْهَارُ الْجَنَّة»(Paradise has one hundred grades which Allah has reserved for the Mujahidin who fight in His cause, the distance between each two grades is like the distance between the heaven and the Earth. So, when you ask Allah, ask for Al-Firdaws, which is the best and highest part of Paradise, above it is the Throne of the Most Beneficent (Allah) and from it originate the rivers of Paradise.) There are various narrations for this Hadith from `Ubadah, Mu`adh, and Abu Ad-Darda’.
-
anyone who intercedes for a good cause.
-
anyone who encourages someone else to do good, that person will get reward, but you will get a share in that reward too, for encouraging and directing them to good.
-
Prophet Sal. said“Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action”
-
The concept behind this is Prophet Sal. said“One who advices a good deed is like one who has actually done it”
-
and any one who encourage or intercedes to do bad, will suffer a share in that burden as well. will suffer that bad too.
-
And Allah is upon everything the maintainer, the nourisher, the Keeper.
-
Prophet Sal. used to encourage his companions to intercede a good recommendation “make recommendations, you will be rewarded”
-
And when you greeted with a greeting, greet in return with one better than it.
-
Or at least return it.
-
exchange greetings of peace with one another.
-
indeed Allah is over all an accountant.
-
here we learn the importance of greeting and responding to it. the command to greet with a better greeting or at least return it.
-
better in terms of words. greet in better terms.
-
Allah keeps count how many times you say salam.
-
its mean of spreading love between muslims. and sign of imaan.
-
6 rights over a muslim:
-
-
responding to greetings,
-
following his funeral,
-
accepting his invitation,
-
after sneezing,
-
visiting when he sick.
-
-
Prophet Sal. said in a narration by Al-Bara bin AzidThe Messenger of Allah commanded us to do 7 things pertaining to the rights of Muslims.
-
-
To visit the sick
-
To follow the funeral
-
To invoke the Mercy of Allah upon one who sneezes
-
To support the weak
-
To help the oppressed
-
To promote the greeting of Assalamu Alaykum
-
To help those who swear to do something to keep their oath
-
Bukhari & Muslim
-
Say Jazakillah Khairan not just JazakalillahIf someone gives you a gift give them something in return as well
-
-
For example• If someone says : Assalamu Alaykum the least you can say is Wa alaykumus Salaam• The best greeting would be : Wa alaykum us Salaam wa rahmathullahi wa barakathu
-
there is no deity worthy of worship except for Him. except for Allah.
-
He will for surely assemble gather you on the Day of resurrection for account.
-
and who is more truthful than Allah in statement?
-
Allahs oneness is mentioned here
-
the coming of Day of J is mentioned here
-
there is no doubt of the coming of the Day. it is truth it is reality there is no doubt it is coming.
-
what is the matter with you that you are two groups with two views, concerning the hypocrites.
-
why do you have a disagreement regarding the hypocrites.
-
one group thinks should be stern against them, and the other group is more soft with them. there is a disagreement regarding them
-
you should not disagree about them. dont dispute regarding the hypocrites.
-
If a command is clear, no need to dispute about it
-
While Allah has made them fall back to kufr, for they earned. Allah made them fall back in to error and disbelief. they were straight and then they were turned back to disbelief. and then they fall behind and abandon the believers.
-
they disobeyed at the battle of Uhud. they walked away from the battlefield!
-
Do you wish to guide those who Allah has sent astray?
-
guidance is not offered to them, the hypocrites.
-
the way was made for them, but they disobeyed.
-
they left Prophet Muhammad (saw) at the time he needed support.
-
they took the wrong step. they took the step of hypocrisy.
-
They left Uhud and returned back to Madina, they are misguided.
-
and whoever Allah has led astray, you can never find a way for them to be guided.
-
Unless Allah gives a person Tawfeeq they cannot be truly guided.
-
Abdullah Ibn Obaid: chief of hypocrites.
-
make the intention to do good sooner than later.
-
the hypocrites wish you would disbelieve the Messenger, like they disbelieve, so that you are all equal.
-
the believer wants everyone to accept the truth, and is well wishing for everyone
-
But the hypocrites, who are not on the path of guidance, and don’t want others to be on the path of guidance, either.
-
So don’t take them the hypocrites as allies, or close protecting friends. bc your friends have an impact on you. Be weary, be careful who you befriend.
-
Until they migrate in the way of Allah. Meaning until they are able to drop everything else for Islam and travel for it. migrate for it. are able to leave their land for islam, for the Deen. until they sacrifice for the Deen. this is referring to the Hypocrites living on the outskirts of the maDinah, or this is referring to those who did migrate to Madinah, but went back to Makkah, bc they couldn’t handle the sacrifice for the Deen. they reverted back to Kufr. Or until they march forth with the muslims in battle.
-
So the hypocrites have to leave their comfort zone, for Deen, and accept, until then dont take them as close friends.
-
*But if they turn away from migration or if they are turning away from going to battlefield with you, or are actively fighting you on the battlefield, then capture them and kill them (ONLY on the battlefield) not everywhere, but ONLY on the battlefield. if they are actively fighting against you, believers. meaning they join the enemy and start actively fighting, only then are you allowed to capture and kill them. only then!
-
and take not from them any ally or helper.
-
*Except those hypocrites who take a refugee with you or with a people you have a treaty of peace with. ( you or whom you have a treaty with for peace, an agreement not to fight with) . you will Not kill these hypocrites.
-
*Or those hypocrites. who come to you for battle, but their hearts are strained at prospect of fighting you or their own people.. you will not kill these hypocrites, either.
-
Hasirath suduruhum • Their chests are tight = Giving the meaning of being uncomfortable. They are not at ease – they don’t want to fight you – but they are being forced to fight you
-
* – 3 groups of hypocrites. types.
-
If Allah had willed He could have given them power over you and they would have fought. It is Allah’s mercy that they don’t want to fight you. so if they dont fight you you don’t fight them.
-
If they remove themselves and offer you peace. then Allah has not granted you permission to fight them.
-
dont kill them if they dont join the army of disbelievers to fight you.
-
Abbas ( uncle of Muhammad Saw)- he accompanied the mushrikeen, but joined with a lot of hesitation. at the battle of Badr. so it was ordered not to kill him, but only capture him.
-
Fa in ‘Ithazala kum• So if they keep away from you meaning – they do not fight you• Falam yuqaathilukum is an explanation of Fa in ‘Ithazala kum – meaning they keep away from you and they do not fight you
-
Even during battle think about who you are fighting and killing and hurting.
-
Muslim army is not allowed: to harm children and women, not damage fertile land, cut down vegetation or hurt the elderly or sick. Not allowed to hurt the peaceful, meaning like monks etc.
-
War does NOT mean you can do whatever you want and kill and hurt or harm whatever you want, in the name of Jihad. THIs is wrong.
-
you will find those who wish to find security from you and also from their own disbelieving people.
-
this is another category of hypocrites. they are not loyal to anyone. they just want the benefits of this world. they want to be at peace with both sides (believers and disbelievers)
-
every time their return to fitnah, they fall plunge back into it.
-
every time they are invited to shirk by their own people they plunge back into.
-
every time they are called to fight against believers, they plunge into it
-
they are against the believers, even though they say they want peace.
-
So if they dont withdraw from you, and are actively there to fight, even if they claim with their tongues that they want peace: the seize them and kill them wherever you overtake them.
-
those We have made clear proof authority and allowance against them, clear.
-
3 forms through which they, the hypocrites, can gain security:
-
-
they offer peace to the muslims,
-
they dont join army of disbelievers and actively fight against you.
-
they have no choice but to join the army and are forced to join the disbelievers, but restrain their hands and are not actively fighting you.
-
-
3 kinds of hypocrites:
-
-
face you and fight you actively – so you should capture, fight and kill them on battleground
-
dont want to fight, and want peace. they offer peace
-
verbally offer peace, but actively jump into war against the believers, are actively are fighting you, so now you can fight them.
-
-
SUMMARY OF THE 3 CATEGORIES OF HYPOCRITES:
-
1st group : They are the ones who have betrayed the Muslims. They don’t believe and they don’t want you to believe either so the Muslims are told if you encounter them at war, kill them2nd group: Hypocrites living with a friendly ally. Ruling : leave them alone as long as they don’t harm you, then you don’t harm them Also another group who lives in a country that no has peace treaty. But they are peace loving people, they don’t want to fight with anyone. So don’t harm them3rd group: Ostensibly peace loving but eagerly seizing the chance for war against the Muslims and if they fight the Muslims, the Muslims must fight them back
-
Killing is NOT allowed.
-
to take a life is a big crime. bc it can’t be returned. to kill is a really huge deal. A very huge crime.
-
blood offenses are the first disputes to be judged on the DOJ.
-
Ibn Masud said that the Prophet Sal. said :“Blood offenses are the first disputes to be judged between the people on the Day of Resurrection” Bukhari
-
deliberate killing and mistake killing.
-
deliberate killing: Katal Amad. – legal retribution is incumbent. it has been ordained. Qathal ‘ammadh = Deliberate murder
-
a believer should Never kill a believer, unless its a mistake: 3. قَتَلَ خَطَئاً Qathal khatha’a = Unintentional or accidental killing:
-
khatha’a: killing by MISTAKE:
-
a believer can never kill a believer, unless by mistake.
-
if the mistake happens: killer should give expiation: freeing of a believing slave, male or female. and a compensation given to the heirs/to the deceased family. how much? 100 camels (300,000 riyals). Dhiyah: should be flawless. Unless the heirs forgive the killer and give their right as charity.
-
But if the deceased was from a people that was at war with you and he was a believer- then only the freeing of a believing slave. *NO need for blood money in this case, bc money will go into the disbelievers hands.
-
But if the one murdered, was from whom you have a peace treaty, then a compensation payment to his family and the freeing of a believing slave, both.
-
Whoever cannot find or afford to buy a slave: then instead fast for 2 months, consecutively, uninterrupted with out a break. (unless an exceptional case-menstruation etc)
-
if killer can’t afford the Dhiyah: his relatives from fathers side will arrange for the blood money, then the government will support him.
-
If the victim was from an enemy nation (for example there is a Muslim country and they are at war with a non-Muslim country) and the Muslim country accidentally kills the Muslim who is living in the non-Muslim country, then the only atonement which will be given by the person who committed the accident will be فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ that he will free a believing slave• No blood money will be given (because if blood money is given it will swell the causes of the enemies).
-
وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِّيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةً and if he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, then compensation (blood money) must be paid to his family, and a believing slave must be freed
-
The Aaqila (Family) of the person who committed the mistake has to pay the diya. They have to come together to get the money and pay the diya
-
the one who kills intentionally. who kills a believer : his recompense is hellfire for eternity.
-
legal retribution as well in this world.
-
anger and curse of Allah. great punishment for this person.
-
Allah will be angry with 3 people:
-
-
who deviates from right conduct in the Harram,
-
who seeks the traditions of the pre-islamic period,
-
person who seeks to shed a persons blood without any right.
-
-
what about the murdered: what about his intention?
-
Ibn `Abbas held the view that the repentance of one who intentionally murders a believer, will not be accepted
-
However, the majority of scholars of the earlier and later generations said that the killer’s repentance can be accepted. If he repents, and goes back to Allah humbly, submissively, and performing righteous deeds, then Allah will change his evil deeds into good deeds and compensate the deceased for his loss by rewarding him for his suffering. Reference verses on repentance in Surah Al-Furqan 25. verses 68-71• From these verses it seems except for Shirk everything else is forgiven that repentance with sincerity would give acceptance.
-
Oh believers, when you strive in the way of Allah, to fight in the cause of Allah. Investigate! who are you attacking.
-
Don’t accuse someone who has offered salam to you of being a disbeliever, dont say to him that: “he is not a believer.” for the sake of worldly gains.
-
you were once like this.
-
Salam: peace and submission.
-
while on journey if someone says salam, dont say no you are not a believer.
-
dont reject the salam of someone. and then want to kill them, for the gain of worldly gains.
-
In the outskirts of Makkah, there were many people who lived – some of them accepted Islam, some of them did. Some of these Muslims did not migrate to Madina. Some of these Muslims were killed unknowingly and this verse was revealed
-
Thabthaghoo = ب غ ى = To seek / to desireDo you desire by killing this person do you want the aradha of this worldly life?
-
Imam Ahmad recorded that `Ikrimah said that Ibn `Abbas said, “A man from Bani Sulaym, who was tending a flock of sheep, passed by some of the Companions of the Prophet and said Salam to them. They said (to each other), `He only said Salam to protect himself from us.’ Then they attacked him and killed him. They brought his sheep to the Prophet , and this Ayah was revealed
-
‘Aradha = ع ر ض • Arad is used for everything that is unstable, everything that is not permanent• Its used for worldly wealth, worldly things because they are not permanent – everything that you buy is gone in time – even though they are guaranteed to last a lifetime
-
Alhayaathad dunya• By killing that person what are you going to get? Just some booty ?
-
for with Allah is way better. He was way more and way more better. He has abundance.
-
For you were like that before. there was once a time, when once you concealed your imaan in your heart in Makkah, and didn’t reveal it. .you were like that before yourselves.
-
And then Allah gave you, big favor upon you, the opportunity to migrate.
-
So investigate! before killing anyone, bc it is a great crime to kill a believer.
-
indeed Allah is aware of everything you do
-
before passing a judgement, investigate thoroughly. dont pass judgement so fast
-
Not equal are those believers that remain at home, as the mujahideen with their wealth and their lives.
-
*Those who believers who sit at home without any reason.
-
*Mujahideen those who go out in the way of Allah with their wealth and lives.
-
*Those who are disabled- they remain behind due to a reason due to illness, sickness handicap.
-
investigate this matter too. research their reasons to stay home.
-
Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remained behind, in degrees.ranks.
-
And to all Allah has promised the best reward. Both types, He has promised the best reward, Jannah. two groups: Mujaheedin, and the group who remain behind for a reason.
-
level of FARD and sacrifice. more time and effort besides the FARD. they make a sacrifice. by going out.
-
after fulfilling our obligations to we have the inclination to do to strive for more?
-
Tirmidhi recorded that Ibn `Abbas said,“Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled”, refers to those who did not go to the battle of Badr and those who went to Badr. When the battle of Badr was about to occur, Abu Ahmad bin Jahsh and Ibn Umm Maktum said, `We are blind, O Messenger of Allah! Do we have an excuse’ The Ayah, was revealed﴿لاَّ يَسْتَوِى الْقَـعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُوْلِى الضَّرَرِ﴾
-
A great reward for the Mujahedeen
-
Degrees from Him, and forgiveness and mercy from Him. He is the most forgiving and merciful.
-
keep fixing your mistakes. and accordingly you will be given your rank/degree.
-
Shaytan will not stay away, he will continue to deviate you.
-
indeed those who, angels of death take while wronging themselves. these people will be asked: in what condition were you? what were your conditions in regards to the Deen?
-
those who didn’t migrate in the way of Allah when they had the option to do so. when they can’t fulfill the obligations of Allah, in their land, they should leave this land. you should not remain there, and engage in haram.
-
its an obligation to leave, if you cannot practice properly the Deen.
-
Fro example: a job requires you to take off hijab. then leave the job. bc how much do you really need the job to sacrifice your Deen.
-
what were you circumstances?
-
they the people will say: we were oppressed in the land. we were weak. we were unable to leave land or job.
-
Angels will say: Was the earth of Allah not spacious enough for you to emigrate therein? you could leave? you couldn’t leave the job for another?
-
So leave the place, leave the city, the country or the job.
-
And so for those people is Hell there abode. for those who do Zulm upon themselves.
-
How evil is that as a destination? what a horrible place to end up after going through life and grave, hisaab, ressurecction, and then ending up in Hell. what a evil place to end up.
-
Angels will speak the soul they are taking/extracting. They will strike and scold that person. Imagine what the Burzaaq will be like, resurrection, the accounting, the hisaab will be like.
-
Al-Bukhari recorded that Muhammad bin `Abdur-Rahman, Abu Al-Aswad, said, “The people of Al-Madinah were forced to prepare an army (to fight against the people of Ash-Sham during the Khilafah of Abdullah bin Az-Zubayir at Makkah), and I was enlisted in it. Then I met `Ikrimah, the freed slave of Ibn `Abbas, and informed him (about it), and he forbade me strongly from doing so (i.e., to enlist in that army), and then he said to me, `Ibn `Abbas told me that some Muslims used to go out with the idolaters increasing the size of their army against the Messenger of Allah . Then, an arrow would hit one of them and kill him, or he would be struck on his neck (with a sword) and killed, and Allah sent down the Ayah,﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَفَّـهُمُ الْمَلَـئِكَةُ ظَـلِمِى أَنفُسِهِمْ﴾(Verily, as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves).” Ad-Dahhak stated that this Ayah was revealed about some hypocrites who did not join the Messenger of Allah but remained in Makkah and went out with the idolaters for the battle of Badr. They were killed among those who were killed. Thus, this honorable Ayah was revealed about those who reside among the idolaters, while able to perform Hijrah and unable to practice the faith. Such people will be committing injustice against themselves and falling into a prohibition according to the consensus and also according to this Ayah
-
Those who die while wronging their souls, the angels come scolding them while taking their souls.
-
except for the oppressed: among men women and children.
-
those who are unable to devise a plan to leave
-
those who are unable to leave from the clutches of the mushrik, the tyrants etc.
-
they dont have the capability or power to make a plan or strategy to escape the oppressive situation they are in. and even if they could leave they wouldn’t know where to go
-
Nor do they know or would be directed on where to go.
-
These are the truly oppressed.
-
for those it is expected Allah will pardon them. Allah will truly decided if a person is truly oppressed.
-
And Allah is every pardoning and forgiving.
-
for example: a wife being forced to live off of the Riba that her husband is earning and bringing home. the one who is forcefully being told to live off of the ribA her husband insists on bringing home.
-
Whoever migrates in the way of Allah, will find many locations. many alternatives on earth. to practice the Deen of islam.
-
and abundance – in terms of wealth, opportunities etc.
-
will be able to leave for the sake of Allah. there are many places and abundance.
-
Will be able to leave the enemy.
-
whoever leaves his home, as emigrant for Allah and His messenger, and death overtakes him, then in fact it is incumbent upon him the reward from Allah.
-
that he will surely receive a reward from Allah.
-
Allah is the most forgiving and merciful.
-
There was a man from Bani Israel who had committed 99 murders and after he committed these 99 murders he began to feel guilty about it. He went to a scholar and asked the scholar and was directed to a monk. He came to him and told him he had killed 99 people and asked him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. The monk replied “no” and the man killed him also completing 100. Then he asked about the most learned man on earth and was directed to a scholar. He told him he had killed 100 people asked him if there was any chance of his repentance to be accepted. The scholar replied “yes” and asked “who stands between you and repentance? Go to such and such land and there you will find people devoted to prayer and worship of Allah. Join them in worship and do not come back to your land because it is an evil place”. So he went away and hardly had he covered half the distance when death overtook him and there was a dispute between the Angels of Mercy and the Angels of Torment. The Angels of Mercy pleaded “This man has come with a repenting heart to Allah” and the Angels of Punishment argued “He never did a good deed in his life”. Then there appeared another Angel in the form of a human being and the contending Angels agreed to make him arbiter between them. He said “measure the distance between the two lands and he will be considered belonging to the land which he is nearer”. They measured and found him closer to the land of piety where he intended to go and so the Angels of Mercy collected his soul. (Bukhari & Muslim
-
It is sad that a man migrated to a place called Thaneen and he didn’t reach his destination, but died on the way. People started to say “what a pity, what a waste…. He shouldn’t have left…” etc and Allha revealed this verseوَمَن يَخْرُجْ مِن بَيْتِهِ مُهَـجِراً إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ يُدْرِكْهُ الْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُ عَلىَ اللَّهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُوراً رَّحِيماً And whosoever leaves his home as an emigrant unto Allah and His Messenger, and death overtakes him, his reward is then surely incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
-
people who leave their homes in pursuit of the knowledge of Deen, this is in the way of Allah, then these people who die in the journey, or those who die in their journey to Hajj or in Ihram, but dont reach destination and die on the way, his/her reward is already incumbent bc of the person intention who set out to do what they were doing for Allah.
-
emigrating away from all this, towards Allah.
-
reward of deeds are based upon the intentions.
-
Propeht Sal. said There’s no hijrah after the conquest of Makkah
-
Prophet Sal. said :“The true Muhajir is one who abandons all that Allah and His Messenger Rasoolullah Sal. has forbidden”
-
leaving sins, leaving an environment, leaving your home and comfort zone, are all forms of migration. intention must be to please Allah.
-
every step taken towards that destination, is being recorded. towards to that migration. every time the wheels on your car are turning to take you there are being recorded and rewarded.
-
each of our footsteps, towards good are recorded.
-
motivating others to do good, you are rewarded for that also. and all the good they do bc you motivated them too.
-
And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the salat.
-
When you travel in general. throughout the land. for traveling. there is no blame on you for shortening the prayers.
-
especially if you fear attack from your enemies.
-
indeed the disbelievers are your open enemies
-
any traveling, fear or no fear, enemy or no enemy, you CAN shorten the prayer.
-
Prophet Muhammad (saw) shortened the prayer during 10 day journey.
-
shortening prayer: fajr Sunnah and fajr fard remains as is, Zuhr-2 rakats of Fard, Asr-2 rakats of Fard, Maghreb remain 3 rakats, Isha- 2 rakats of Fard. Witr remain as is.
-
Nafl can be prayed as you please. even on mount. doesn’t need to be prayed on the ground
-
01. Salat-ul-Qasr (shortening of the prayer)• This refers or applies to a journey i.e. if you are going out of town, then you can shorten your Salah Example:o Fajr 2 sunnah and 2 Fardho In Zuhr you will read 2 rakahs instead of 4 and no sunnaho In Asr you will read 2 rakah instead of 4 – no sunnaho Maghrib 3 and no sunnaho Isha will be 2 rakahs and then 3 Witr
-
Qasr applicable: leave town or population or city. No measurements have been given.
-
NO. OF DAYS According to : No. of DaysIbn Abbas 19 days or lessAli Either 10 days or lessIbn Omar, Omar Rali, Abu Hanifa 15 days or lessUsman, Anas, Imam Malik, Shafi 4 days or less ( these are the different hadith that reached the scholars)
-
Shortening the prayer is not smthg to be looked down upon. it is a gift from Allah, so accept this gift.
-
some say if you travel 48 miles, that you should start shortening the prayer. some say 9 miles.
-
• Prophet Sal. went to Zull qualify was 9 miles and he prayed qasr so scholars says the minimum is 9 miles
-
There is flexibility in this matter. that is why there is no specific distance as to when to shorten the prayer.
-
if you are staying in a place where you dont know how long you will be there and returning home. you pray Qasr until you know.
-
• Anas stayed in Ash-Sham for 2 months and prayed Qasr for 2 months (because he was in a state of uncertainty)
-
• But if you are sure you are going to stay for a month or 6 months etc. then you will pray the full salah
-
Zuhr and AsR can be combined and maghrib and Isha can be combined when on journey. when traveling.
-
Combining prayers is up to you, its an allowance, but shortening is a gift from Allah, so accept it.
-
(Book: Prayer according to the Sunnah: prayer during journey Pg 413. The Abridged Prayer)
-
even a difference of opinion allows for vastness in this matter.
-
When you are among them, and there is fear, than you (Prophet Muhammad Saw) should lead them in prayer. pray in congregation.
-
Salat-ul-Khauf• When you are in a situation of peril, fear, when you are in a situation where either enemies are threatening you or for that matter even animals (if you are staying a forest overnight)
-
Even in the time of fear, pray in congregation.
-
Army would be divided in two, a group of them stand in prayer with you, and let them carry their arms and weapons ammunition, while performing prayer.
-
when the first group has prostrated in Sadjah, let them be behind you.
-
Muhammad (saw) is leading the prayer, half of them are praying,
-
second group that was standing guard, will join prayer in the second rakat with Prophet Muhammad, and then they complete their rakat, on their own while prophet Muhammad who is leading, will be in tahasshud. while taking precaution and holding onto their arms and weapons.
-
Method 1• Salat ul Khauf is 2 rakahs• Prophet Sal. would start by leading the prayer and the Muslims would divide into 2 groups• One group would keep guard so that enemies don’t attack or animals don’t attack• The 2nd group would read one rakah behind Prophet Sal. (still holding their weapons)• Then the 2nd group would replace the first group as guards and they would come forward and read one rakah behind Prophet Sal.• After Prophet Sal. said salaam the two groups would complete one rakah each on their own • Prophet Sal. completes 2 rakahs• Sajdah is an important part of prayer
-
person can pray while carrying weapons, or even luggage. can hold onto it.
-
can hold onto child during prayer as well. it doesn’t invalidate the prayer.
-
those who disbelieve they wish you will neglect our luggage or weapons so that they can attack you in one single attack.
-
but there is no blame on you if there is rain, bc it will become slippery to hold weapons,
-
if you are sick. you can put weapons down.
-
in these cases you can put them down. but take precaution. but them in an easy place to access after you pray.
-
but you should be on guard.
-
And a humiliating punishment for the disbelievers.
-
pg 481; Prayer according to Sunnah.
-
and when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah after Salat. remember Him standing and sitting. do Dhikr! even while standing do Dhikr.
-
After Salat: allah akbar, astaghfirullah, and ayat ul Kursi.
-
learn of adhkaar for after salat; wa iyyaka nastaeen.
-
and upon your sides when lying down
-
but when are in safety and out of danger, reestablish regular prayer.
-
when are have come back home from journey, than reestablish the sunnah as well. when traveling you are NOT required to do the Sunnah prayer. you shouldn’t do the sunnah when traveling bc he did not do it.
-
but it should be reestablished when you return home.
-
indeed prayer is an obligation on a believer at prescribed times. It is decreed. It is enjoined upon believers. it is required to do.
-
salat should be performed at its specified times.
-
praying on time over rides all conditions, praying on time is most important. even if there is only 5 min left, and you can’t change into clean clothes, must still pray. before the time is over.
-
prayer performed on time is the BEST DEED
-
Salat teaches us time management. how to manage the time in our life. teaches us when to wake up and when to sleep. time management. gives us a chance to reflect and think about what are we are doing and what we should and should not be doing. while we are standing there in front of Allah.
-
Jumaah, teaches us weekly management
-
Ramadan teaches us mostly time management
-
hajj teaches us yearly time management
-
think, even in during war situations, missing salat is not allowed!
-
and still we go to prayer lazily! even though its so easy to do so for us today.
-
we should really analyze our prayer today. check ourselves. how are you we doing them? not just quantity but its quality as well.
-
remember Allah after completing the prayer.
-
Go to prayer with preparations, perform Fard prayer, dont abandon Sunnah, (ask yourself why are you abandoning the sunnah), after Salah sit and remember Allah.
- dont be weak or lazy or slack off, in pursuit of the enemy
- if you are suffering so are they, the enemy is also suffering,
- but you all have hope from Allah. while they the enemies have no hope.
- Allah is the most knowledgeable and wise.
Ayah 105:
- Indeed (WE: the royal We) Allah sent down, revealed to you ( prophet Muhammad (saw) the Book, the Quran, with reality, with truth in it.
- so that you may judge between people in the Right Way, the correct way. In accordance to the right way, that Allah has shown. The way that Allah has said.
- So that you judge based on how Allah has told you.
- And do not be an advocate for the treacherous, for those who betray trust.
- Dont help the cheating ones. Those who betray and are treacherous. those who are deceptive.
- ex. Lawyers: Don’t support the client if the client is a criminal.
- same goes with the any wrong that might be happening if your own family, your own parents. don’t side with them or support them in that wrong.
- be just, that is nearer to righteousness.
- Side with the truth regardless of what happens.
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) did not know the matters of the unseen completely. In the complete sense.
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) would given decisions based on his own knowledge. If he was wrong then a revelation from Allah would come down to correct him, to inform him the correct way.
- Appreciate the authenticity of the Hadith. Source of that is also from Allah. Allah informs Prophet Muhammad (saw) regarding certain matters. and through this actions and decisions he would relay that to us.
- An Ansari man named Thauma Ibn Ubayriq of the Bani Zafr tribe – (it was a sub tribe of the Ansar) stole a bag of wheat and coat of mail (armour) belonging to another Ansari Companion. He took this to the house of a Jew and asked him to keep it as a trust (of course not divulging to the Jew that he had stolen it). When the Ansari found that his wheat and coat of mail were stolen he followed a trail of wheat left by Thauma which led him to the Jew’s house (the bag of wheat had a hole in it and Thauma had not realized he had left a trail behind). The Ansari confronted the Jew and said “You stole my wheat and coat of mail”. The Jew denied this and said he had not stolen the wheat but that it was given to him as a trust from Thauma of Bani Zafr. There was a major dispute between the Ansari and the Jew and finally the dispute was taken to the Prophet Sal. Thauma and the Bani Zafr tribe didn’t own up to the theft – they were extremely eloquent and they strongly argued on behalf of Thauma and framed the Jew of the theft. They concocted the story so well that all the evidence was against the innocent Jew. Prophet Sal. was listening to them and he was being convinced to give a judgment against the Jewish man and when he about to give his judgment in favour of Thauma when this verse was revealed.
- • The deceitful here was Tauma who stole and blamed it on the other person
Ayah 106:
- And seek forgiveness from Allah, He is the most Merciful and most Forgiving.
- So why is Prophet Muhammad (saw) being told to seek forgiveness when his past and all sins have been forgiven? bc he is an example for us.
- We need to be doing more istaghfir.
- Just for that thought that you might have been giving the wrong judgement, even for that though seek forgiveness.
Ayah 107:
- And do not argue or plead about those who wrong themselves. About those who betray their own souls. About those who deceive themselves.
- They knew the reality, and are still presenting evidences that are clearly false. they know its a lie. but still say it anyway!
- When a person deceives anyone, in reality they are firstly deceiving themselves! they are actually deceiving themselves first, before anyone else.
- Meaning of thujaadhil anillazeena• Do not argue on their behalf, don’t argue to defend them because such an argument would be for bathilYakthnaanoona anfusahum• They deceive themselves – meaning they deceive themselves by sinning and by pretending that they have not sinned. • This is the reality of sins where someone harms the other and pretends that he hasn’t done it.
- Indeed Allah does not love those who are treacherous and the extreme sinners. A habitually sinful deceiver.
- sinning with deliberation.
- A person who doesn’t learn anything from first statement, this second statement should be enough to warn you. More effective is the second statement. Bc Allah doesn’t love such people who are habitually deceptive.
- Khawaanan = one who is extremely treacherous• It is on the structure of Fa’aal – and fa’aal gives the meaning of doing something a lot – repeatedly. • For eg. if Allah’s name is Ath-Thauwaab – he accepts Tauba repeatedly• So Khawaan is he is extremely treacherous and Allah does not like him be cause he is repeatedly treacherous, you can never trust this person.
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: One who deceives is not from amongst us
- give smthg, dislike smthg, like smthg, love of smthg, withhold smthg, leaving smthg, doing smthg, ALL should be for the sake of Allah.
- Hadith: The perfect believer-The one who loves Allah he will do everything for the sake of Allah – even if his relatives are in wrong, he will not support them
Ayah 108:
- They might be able to hide their crimes from people,
- But cannot hide anything from Allah.
- They try to conceal their evil and crimes from the people.
- He sees them, He is with them, He is aware of them, even at night when they are plotting and scheming with unapproved words.
- He doesn’t approve of this speech and what they scheme.
- Allah sees and encompasses all their actions.
Ayah 109:
- Here you are! oh people, those who argue on their (tracherous one) behalf in this worldly. you defend him (or those people) today in this world.
- But who will argue for them on the DOJ, in front of Allah. Who will argue with Allah for them. Who will be their representative on that day. Who will defend them on that Day.
- Nobody.
- This will not be possible on that Day.
Ayah 110:
- and whoever does wrong and or did it in the past. treacherous or supported someone who was deceptive and treacherous. or made an intercession on behalf of someone who was doing something wrong.
- Evil through which others are wronged.
- Does a wrong, wrongs himself. Sin that harms himself.
- BUT then seeks forgiveness from Allah. will find Allah forgiving and merciful
- Istaghfir; seeking forgiveness.
- covering and overlooking of the sin.
- if you wronged someone, apologize to them. sometimes you will find they will not even want to look at you.
- Allah doesn’t turn away from a person who is sincere in his repentance.
- Quran shows us the mirror. shows us our blemishes.
Ayah 111:
- and whoever earns a sin, he is committing it against his own soul. he is only causing loss to himself. He is earning it with effort against himself.
- he will face the loss and consequences of that sin. you are exposing yourself to the consequences of that sin. will carry the burden himself.
- Allah is knowledge and all wise.
- He knows everything.
Ayah 112:
- whoever commits a sin without intention OR commits a sin and then blames it upon an innocent person.
- whoever does this: has taken upon a slander and manifest sin.
- He shall bare the guilt of slander and the sin.
- a shocking sin.
- by blaming someone else, will only increase your own sin.
- when you commit a mistake, or deliberate sin- seek forgiveness.
- But when you make the mistake or deliberate sin and then blame someone else: than it becomes slander and a big sin. open and clear.
Ayah 113:
- And if it was not for the favor upon you ( prophet Muhammad (saw)) and His mercy
- a group of them (banU dHAFAR) would have tried to mislead you. to make you make the wrong decision.
- they only mislead and hurt themselves. by trying to mislead you.
- and they cannot mislead or harm you.
- Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom behind those Commands.
- And taught you what you didn’t know.
- (imagine every time a Wahi came down on Prophet Muhammad (saw))
- There are 2 kinds of revelations:
-
- 1. Wahi-Mathloo• The revelations which is recited – The Quran
- 2. Wahi-ghair-Mathloo• The revelation which is not recited – are all the teachings of Prophet Sal. that have come to us in the form of Ahadith
- Knowledge,we need put in a lot of effort to acquire it.
- Great is the grace of Allah upon you. This is the grace and FAdl of Allah: knowledge, the book and the wisdom.
- Knowledge of the divine revelation and the sunnah. this is the most virtuous.
- Be grateful that Allah has opened this opportunity to learn, acquire and benefit from this knowledge.
- it requires struggle, hard work and effort.
Ayah 114:
- And no good comes from private and secret conversations.
- the ones that Banu Dhafar was having.
- generally there is not much good in private conversations. It is not good manners and etiquettes.
- except for those who enjoin charity. those who advise, encourage charity.
- meaning giving advice secretly, encouragement secretly.
- giving charity secretly.
- conceal the sadaqah and give to the poor, that is better.
- when you enjoin good it can be done in private.
- let them know what they are doing wrong in private. give them advice in private.
- reconciliation between people.
- the private or confidential conversation the enjoins what is good, gives advices, or creates reconciliation, : seeking means to approval of Allah.
- Allah will give this person a great reward. A lot of pleasure of Allah.
- secret conversation should be for good reasons.
- its not liked in general bc it causes bad supposition in the minds of people. so its bad unless its done for good reasons.
- Prophet Sal. said : “Shall I not tell you about an act which is far superior in rank to fasting, praying and charity?” (This refers to voluntary fasting, prayer and charity). They said “Please do” and he said “bringing reconciliation between people”Ahmed
- enmity between people causes a lot of damage.
- Reconciling between people is one of the supreme form of goodness.
- keep relations cordial.
- think of how you can play the role of reformer. think of someone who has mis- understanding about you or someone else.
- private conversations are only from shaitan..
Ayah 115:
- And whoever is hostile to the Messenger, whoever differs with the Messenger (saw) after guidance is made clear,
- and follows in the path other than those of the believers. way of the believers is the way of the Sahabah. or the consensus of the scholars.
- Allah will give him what he has taken. Whatever he wants here, he will get. Allah will turn him to what he turns to. meaning a different path from Muhammad (saw).
- he will become a leader of misguidance. more he opposes more he will be lead astray. outcome is misguidance in this world and hellfire in the hereafter.
- Allah will leave him in whatever path he has turned to. the path not of the companions and Messenger (saw)
- And then will burn him in hell. Allah will drive him into hellfire.
- and what an evil refuge that is a destination
- whoever opposes the messenger after guidance has been made clear to him
- whoever makes a party against him. after the guidance and knowledge has been made clear to him.
- he brought Quran and Sunnah.
- Today people put aside the sunnah and misinterpret the Quran. they leave the way of the companions and the Messenger (saw)
- you can’t just pick up an arabic dictionary and understand the Quran.
- Hadith support the Quran.
Ayah 116:
- Allah doesn’t forgive shirk.
- And He may forgive any one else. Whoever He chooses.
- all depends on Allahs will though.
- And he who associates partners with Allah has gone astray, far away.
Ayah 117:
- women were considered weak and low in society
- the pagans don’t call upon Him, but female deities..
- So they would not call upon Allah, but instead would call upon female idols, female angels ( bc they thought the female angels were daughters of god), female stones/rocks, inanimate objects taken as worship.
- This was all made up.
- but they are actually call/obeying/worshipping upon a rebellious shaytain. bc he is the one who makes them do such things.
- They worship the idols by falling into the trap of the shaitan.
Ayah 118:
- Allah has cursed shaytan,
- he had said: I will surely take from your servants, a specific portion.
- to mislead them.
- we need to be alert all the time from Shaytan, and seek refuge in Allah, from him

- making wrong actions beautified. make the wrong things look tempting. makes big sins look small. mislead people by putting them in doubt. get them off track
- Arouse sinful desires. makes desires attractive. wishful thinking.
- Satan attacks from the weakest points. he knows how weak they are.
- sometimes he makes them so engrossed in even reciting Quran that they forget to pray Salat.
- so it doesn’t mean he tries to trap you from bad, he can try to trap you from good too.
- And: I will command them to slit the ears of cattle.
- means making something that is halal into haram.
- (tradition to slit the animal ears to mark them as a idol to be worshipped)
- فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ الاٌّنْعَـمِ to slit the ears of cattle,• This refers to something that the Arabs used to do. For example certain animals their ears would be slit in order to identify them as sacred animals. No one could use them, ride them, milk them, no one owns it. They were set free to please idols. Bariha was a camel which set free for the idols and nobody was allowed to milk it and Sauda was a camel let loose for free pasture for their idols and nothing was allowed to be carried on it.
- And: I will command them to change Allah’s creation:
-
- change it physically: men start dressing like women or vice versa, plastic surgery, teeth, cloning, tattooing, color, piercing, hair extensions.
- intangible/changing the function/role: to not use smthg the way Allah has meant for it to use. to misuse smthg.
- changing the fiTRAh/nature: take work from someone that is wrong. telling females to be more like a man and encouraging her to do so. this is corruption.
- whoever takes shay tan as a close friend, will incur a great loss.
Ayah 120:
- greed to appear young for this world. poverty of the heart, to stay young in this world.
- if you age with grace, then you are satisfied.
- Shaytain, promises them, arouses desire in them. promises them delusion.
- promises them false hopes.
- and his promises are just delusions and deception.
Ayah 121:
- those who follow the footsteps of shaiytan, their abode will be hellfire and there will be no escape. no exit.
- they will find no exit.
Ayah 122:
- But those who believe do righteous deeds.
- for them are gardens with rivers flowing underneath it.
- wherein they will abide in forever.
- it is the promise of the Allah that is truth. this is a true promise of Allah.
- and whose speech is more truthful, than Allah’s.
Ayah 123:
- paradise, It is not obtained by your wishful thinking, oh you believers.
- higer ranks and salvation is not by your wishful thinking
- just bc you wanna go to Jannah, doesn’t mean you will go there. doesn’t mean you will be sent there.
- Shaitan arouses false desires in people. he promises them nothing but delusion.
- nor by the desires of the people of scriptures: jews or christian.
- dont just depend on high hopes or wishful thinking or dreaming
- A person won’t just get what you want. just because you want.
- for example if you don’t want to age, doesn’t mean you won’t age bc you are rich.
- paradise is attained by hard work.
- nothing can happen just based on wishful thinking. that is not the way to live.
- we must put in the effort.
- judgement by Allah will be based on solid truth, solid deeds, solid actions. on proof.
- the wrong mindset of muslims is that we are muslims so we get special privileges and rights. this was the same thinking of the jews and christians. and this is the wrong mindset, wrong thinking
- whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it. regardless of who or what religion they follow. whoever does any wrong: Su-Ahn- any wrong, evil, sin, kufr, shirk. will be recompensed for it.
- do your best to remain on the right and straight path. remain steadfast, keep on doing good.
- when at times you do make mistakes, and carry that guilt. Do istaghfir immediately.
- when you face difficulty from someone else, and are hurt by someone else, be patient. dont retaliate. be patient.
- And he will not find besides Allah, no protector no helper.
- person should focus on working hard, focus on your Aml, your actions and deeds. not just wishful thinking.
- if you do smthg bad by mistake, do some more good to wipe away the bad deeds, sins.
- dont procrastinate. dont be living in the past or worrying about the future. think and live in the present. work now. put the effort in now.
- learn to get over injury. bare it with patience. in the present do what you need to do and make the most of it, now.
Ayah 124:
- Whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female.
- while being a mumin, while being a believer,
- those will enter paradise.
- and will not be wronged even as much as the speck on a date seed.
- stronger the iman, the more a person will excel in righteous deeds.
- righteous actions done with sincerity, following quran and sunnah, for Allah.
- do righteous deeds for Allah, not to impress people.
- we need both physical and spiritual strength.
Ayah 125:
- And who is better in religion, in terms of Deen, than one who submits himself completely and entirely/his face to Allah.
- must submit ourselves to Allah.
- and he doesn’t utmost good. while doing good. not just impress people, but to please Allah. excel is acts of righteousness. the method should be most beautiful.
- the best method is the method of Prophet Muhammad (saw)
- strives towards good, leaves evil.
- prays on time, with Khushu, fasts and performs Hajj, etc. in the best way.
- doer of good, and doesn’t invalidate their good deeds by doing something wrong.
- believer’s attitude should be in the way of Deen. to be the best in this way.
- And follows the religion of Ibrahim, inclining towards the truth.
- Ibrahim was inclined towards worshipping one God and left all shirk. He was Haneef, left all and inclined towards one side. the side of the truth.
- Allah took Ibrahim as an intimate friend. Khaleel: best close friend, deep friendship that penetrates the heart.
- Allah doesn’t need a friend, but it is said here to give honor to Prophet Ibrahim (as)
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) is also a khaleel of Allah.
- Ibrahim has been given a very noble title.
- The one who gives up smthg for Allah, Allah gives him/her ways opens door, for him/her to understand His Book etc.
- Allah compensated Ibrahim in terms of this world and the hereafter. He was given a great honor.
Ayah 126
- and to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth.
- Allah doesn’t need to take anybody as a close friend. He doesn’t need anybody or anything
- bc it all belongs to Him
- Allah is knowledgeable of everything. He encompasses everything.
- submit before Him happily and readily.
Ayah 127: listen again*
- (women were deprived of their rights, in Jahiliyah times)
- And they ( companions) request from you (prophet Muhammad(saw)) a legal ruling regarding women. they were asking about the rights of women. how many men ask about the rights of women today?
- about the solution to a difficult matter.
- fatwa- legal ruling, legal verdict.
- About what Deen says about a matter. legal ruling according to Deen.
- Allah is giving the answer Himself. about women. thats how much respect is for women.
- Regarding women. and what is collected/written in this Surah.
- Concerning the orphan girls: to whom you don’t give their share and rights. and yet you desire to marry them. (so you don’t want to really marry them, but only for their wealth, want a share of the money,)
- This Ayah is about ( according to Aisha r.a.): about a man taking care of an orphan girl, money is joined with hers, married her for monetarily gain for himself. ( Aisha R.a. says) ( Saheeh Bukhari)
- and those the weak and the children. treat them fairly.
- dont be unfair and unjust.
- give them their inheritance. don’t marry for the inheritance.
- this is true liberation. for women.
- and whatever you do of good, indeed Allah is ever knowing of it. not even an atoms weight is hidden from Him.
Ayah 128: listen again*
- If a woman fears contempt or arrogance or injustice or rebelling from husband. will not give her of her rights. wrongfully reduces her expenditures, he deprives her, he is crossing the limits. depriving her of her rights. going against the rights.
- if a woman fears all this, or aversion. lack of interest from husband, or indifference.
- so meaning they are not getting along. husband thinks of her as burden. deserting her.
- one wants to divorce or separate. and the other doesn’t. they should compromise, give up some rights of each other to make the marriage possibly work.
- there is no sin upon them, if they set things right, or compromise or a mutual reconciliation. if they make terms for this mutually. they should compromise.
- settlement is best. an agreement. is better. learn to compromise,
- instead of resolving to divorce, an agreement or settlement is better.
- be patient and compromise in some matters. to make things work. don’t just be quick to resolve to divorce.
- and present in human souls is stinginess and greed.
- the mindset of what I need and what more I can get, rather than giving, rather than sacrificing.
- Too much independence in marriage will not make it work for too long. too much independence in marriage is not good, and not sustainable.
- But if you, men, do good, even if the woman are not fulfilling all their duties, and fear Allah. than Allah is ever with you Acquainted.
- You can deceive each other , but you can never deceive Allah.
Ayah 129:
- and you will never be equal in feeling between your wives. and you will never be able to be just and fair equal to all your wives.
- even if you should strive to do so.
- dont incline towards one wife and leave the other wife hanging.
- (he will come on the DOJ slanted on one side. )
- that you don’t give her rights, so that she feels that she is neither married or divorced.
- And if you amend your affairs, if you are fair just and reconcile, and fear Allah.
- than Allah is most forgiving. and most merciful.
Ayah 130:
- but if they separate by divorce. Allah will enrich them each with His abundance and bounty.
- if the purpose of marriage is not being fulfilled. dont deprive each other of rights. don’t despair.
- Allah will give them a better spouse or smthg else better later.
- If they try to make it work and still cannot make amends. and still they separate and divorce, than that is ok.
- and He is one of Abundance and All wise.
- marriage is supposed to be a peaceful relationship.
- mercy should remain in all phases of the marriage. not just in the honeymoon phase. mercy to each other. so that Allah is merciful towards you.
- attraction will come and go, but remain merciful to each other.
- (traits and names of Allah are mentioned at the end of Ayah, for a reason, for us to think and ponder.)
- maintain Allah consciousness.
- we have many weaknesses and shortcomings, Allah has neither.
- do your best, but all relies with Allah.
Ayah 131:
- For all that is in the heavens and earth. belongs to Allah.
- Allah has supreme authority.
- And certainly Allah instructed the people of the book before you and now you: To fear Allah in your dealings with one another.
- For all mankind to adopt taqwah, fear Allah. and lead a righteous life.
- but if you disobey, you will do so at your own risk. it will not make any difference to Him.
- Allah owns all that is in the heavens and the earth.
- He is free of all need.
- He is all praiseworthy.
Ayah 132:
- It all belongs to HIm. the heavens and the earth. He is sufficient at the Protector.
Ayah 133:
- and if He wants He can do away with you and bring others in your place.
- and He all capable and all powerful.
- remember that nobody is indispensable. doesn’t mean that nobody else can perform the duty.
Ayah 134:
- whoever wants reward, in this world, should know that Allah is the possessor of all reward that is in this world and the hereafter.
- Allah hears and sees all.
- when ever doing a deed, we must think what is the benefit for this in the hereafter. for the akhirah.
- think about how it will affect your akhirah.
- whenever you do good to your spouse, think long term, think about akhirah.
- dont think of immediate, think of the hereafter. develop far sightedness, not just near sightedness.
- what matters most is that your efforts should be appreciated by Allah.
- Shaytan wants us to be demotivated in this world. he wants us to give up if we don’t get what we want in this world.
- so if we don’t get the appreciate from people here after doing a good deed, don’t worry about it, just keep going, keep doing good. don’t let shaitan make you think that good is not worth it.
- in the bigger picture, dunya doesn’t matter much. its the hereafter that is most important.
- this world is so trivial, thats why Allah gives it those who even disobey.
- Aim is akhirah.
- whatever has been ordained for you in this world, you will get. so develop richness of the heart. be happy with what you have.
- 3 ways of approaching life:
-
- 1: you are who only wants dunya. that person will only get dunya, and what is meant for you in it
- 2: you want only akhirah. so you don’t expect anything in this dunya nothing specific.
- 3: you want both dunya and akhirah. one gets of this world what is ordained for you, you made dua for this world and the next and wanting to be saved from hell. ask for good of this world and the hereafter.
- remind ourselves that we are not here permanently.
Ayah 135:
- oh you believers, be:
- be persistently standing up firm in justice.
- maintain justice.
- prepare to give full justice, be fair, and remaining away from injustice Zhulm.
- everyone has a certain right, give everyone what they should be given.
- focus is on dont be or dont do zhulm.
- in regards to apparent matters, be fair and just as best as possible.
- dont deprive anyone of the right.
- Start by giving the due rights to each other that are in your household. such as spouses.
- stand up for justice and fairness.
- Witness for Allah. seeking to please Him.
- testimony should be given for Allah. on His behalf.
- you must spread the truth.
- dont fear anyone. do things correctly for Allah. spread, live, stand by, promote the Truth.
- stand up and give correct testimony, when ever you are asked about a certain matter. even if it be against yourself,
- or your parents.
- Or your close relatives: spouses, grandparents, children.
- speak truth even if it goes against these close people to you.
- stand firmness in justice to please only Allah
- whether one ( the one against the testimony is being given) is rich or poor. dont give testimony in favor of a rich or poor person,
- give regardless of their status.
- give testimony supporting what is truth and right, not what is false.
- Allah is closer to them than you can ever be. Allah is the most deserving of being obeyed first and foremost. He is more worthy then both the rich or the poor. More than both of them.
- So follow not inclination. don’t follow your desires and leave justice. don’t follow personal inclination. don’t love, desires, hate, lust lure you into being unfair in your matters. dont swerve or deviate from what is just/fair.
- be just and fair in ALL matters.
- love and hate are two emotions that prevent a person from being fair.
- and if you twist/distort your testimony or decline/hide to give it.,
- then indeed Allah knows whatever you do.
- The Prophet said,«خَيْرُ الشُّهَدَاءِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي بِشَهَادَتِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلَهَا»“The best witness is he who discloses his testimony before being asked to do so”
- stand firm in justice, support the truth.
- give testimony for the pleasure of Allah. even if it goes against, self, parents, relatives, etc.
- we must do ihsan with parents, but seeing and allowing them to do and continue to do smthg wrong, and be unfair. that is not ihsan, that is injustice, so you must be speak up against their injustice and unfairness. Even if they are your parents.
ayah 136:
- oh you who believe, believe in Allah and His Messenger
- prove your faith, remain steadfast, and do what you are supposed to do.
- and the Book He sent down to His Messenger. ( the Quran)
- so believe in that Book He sent down
- and that which (scriptures: Torah and Injil) that He sent down before.
- and whoever disbelieves in Allah, His messengers, His angles, HIs books, and the last day: he has deviated away and is of those who have gone astray. far away
Ayah 137:
- indeed those who have believed and then disbelieved, then believed, and then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelieved. meaning go on in increasing disbelief.
- this is the attitude of the hypocrites.
- the accept and claim they believed and then they do acts of kufr.
- than they claim again that they believe
- and then again during a sacrifice or struggle they disbelieve again
- and then they go on and increase in disbelief and die in disbelief. increase in kufr until they die.
- never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way of truth and goodness.
- they claim to bring ImAAN and claim to be believers.
- these are the hypocrites. the half and halves.
- being steadfast and consistent is very important. so believe and continue to believe. do good and more good doors open up for them
Ayah 138:
- give glad tidings to the hypocrites, good news. Basharah: is good news. change the color of your skin.
- But here it means give them shocking, alarming news, that will also change the color and temperature their skin.
- because for them indeed a most painful torment, punishment
- Prophet Muhammad (saw) is being told all this here.
- Hypocrites are being warned this will be their way if they don’t obey, consistently.
- a believer should live his/her life most pleasing to Allah, fulfilling his/her duties during good times and at times of difficulty.
- Islam is not about submitting only when you are in a good mood.
- Make the decision not to be in a bad mood. let go of the moodiness.
- hypocrisy puts you in a state a doubt. changes your mood.
Ayah 139:
- those who take disbelievers as allies instead of believers, is also hypocrisy.
- do they seek with them honor. by befriending the disbelievers do they think they will get honor.
- Izzah: revolves around 3 meanings:
-
- power or noblity
- severity
- dominance
- But actually ALL honor is with Allah. Honor belongs to Him only.
- So even if you fall in the eyes of people temporarily for siding or being a believer, don’t worry bc your honor is with Allah.
- Hypocrites believe that people give honor. rather than Allah. this leads to disgrace.
- honor comes with Imaan.
- not with worldly statuses or gains.
Ayah 140:
- And it has already come down to you muslims, in the Book, the Quran
- that when you hear the verses of Allah recited,
- that they are denied or ridiculed.
- dont sit with them. don’t be in this gathering. don’t sit with those people.
- dont befriend and have close intimate relationships with those who:
-
- deny the verses of Allah.
- mock or make fun of the Deen or the verses of the Quran.
- don’t sit or associate with them, until they enter into another conversation
- this doesn’t mean interact or cooperate with anyone. but don’t have close relationships with them.
- bc if you stay with them, you will be like them in sin. if they are mocking and you don’t leave you are like them, in sin.
- indeed Allah will gather all the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell, altogether.
- Hypocrites make fun and mock, they have a non serious approach to Deen, and then there are the disbelievers that deny.
- Prophet Sal. told us :“One who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit to dine where wine is being served”
- “Man is known by the company he keeps”
Ayah 141:
- those who wait and watch you closely, waiting for you believers to get smthg. to gain smthg.
- and if you gain a victory from Allah, they say: were we not with you. (hypocrites say to the believers to come close and have a share of the gain)
- if disbelievers have success. ( naseeb, fixed portion) (this is not victory btw) they hypocrites say to the disbelievers, we could have joined the believers against you. they join the disbelievers.
- Allah will judge you all on the Day of J. this will all be exposed on that Day.
- and for the disbeliever there will be no way that Allah leaves for them to overtake the believers.
Ayah 142:
- Indeed the hypocrites think to deceive Allah, but they are actually only deceiving themselves.
- But Allah is deceiving them. But we should not look at this in a injust way. Bc He is never unjust.
- Allah gives respite, gives people time. for people to repent and realize their mistakes.
- Summary : Khadi has been used in the following manner :• Mushakala – to keep the same words – they deceive, Allah deceives
- • It has been used Mushakala to keep the same words• The offence is “they deceive” so the punishment is also khida • For example like Makaroo, wa Makarallah• Allah does not punish them and does not seize them right away and they think they are clever, and will not be punished
- They they hypocrites think what they are doing is right, but this deception and a punishment from Allah.
- and when they stand lazily for prayer. they stand to pray just for others to see and think they believers.
- prayer was distinguishing feature between believers and nonbelievers.
- and they remember Allah only a very little.
- they aren’t attentive and humble during prayer.
- they perform just the outward actions, maybe even by tongue, but don’t pray from the heart. they stand in prayer just for show off to other people.
- how much do we remember Allah during prayer.
- Salah is coolness of the eyes for the believer. Its happiness for the believer.
- How do you feel during the call for prayer?
- Imam Malik reported that Al-`Ala’ bin `Abdur-Rahman said that Anas bin Malik said that the Messenger of Allah said,«تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِ، تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِ، تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِ، يَجْلِسُ يَرْقُبُ الشَّمْسَ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ، قَامَ فَنَقَرَ أَرْبَعًا، لَا يَذْكُرُ اللهَ فِيهَا إِلَّا قَلِيلًا»This is the prayer of the hypocrite, this is the prayer of the hypocrite, this is the prayer of the hypocrite. He sits watching the sun until when it goes down between the two horns of the devil, he stands up pecks out four Rak`ahs (for `Asr) without remembering Allah during them except little.) Muslim, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’i also recorded it.
The heaviest prayers on the hypocrites are the `Isha’ and Dawn prayers.If they know their rewards, they will attend them even if they have to crawl.I was about to order someone to pronounce the Adhan for the prayer,then order someone to lead the prayer for the people,then order some men to collect fire-wood (fuel); then I would burn the houses around men who did not attend the (compulsory congregational) prayer
- Quranic and Masnun dua book page 31 dua no. 31
Ayah 143:
- wavering between belief and disbelief. between faith and disbelief.
- these are the hypocrites
- they are with the believers outwardly
- they are with the disbelievers inwardly
- not fully belonging to the believers and the disbelievers. not fully either one
- hypocrites are suffering from identity crisis.
- deep down they are with the disbelievers though.
- and whoever Allah sends astray, never will you find for them a way. nobody else can guide them.
- will claim to be from the side that they can gain from. that they have worldly gain from. they will side with which ever sides suits them at that moment.
- Ibn Jarir recorded that Ibn `Umar said that the Prophet said,«مَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَمَثَلِ الشَّاةِ الْعَائِرَةِ بَيْنَ الْغَنَمَيْنِ، تَعِيرُ إِلى هَذِهِ مَرَّةً، وَإِلَى هَذِهِ مَرَّةً، وَلَا تَدْرِي أَيَّتَهُمَا تَتْبَع»The example of the hypocrite is the example of the sheep wandering between two herds, sometimes she goes to one of them, and sometimes the other, confused over whom she should follow Muslim
- The worst people before Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be the double faced peoplewho appear to some people with one face and to other people with another face, Bukhari
- stay committed to the truth, truth gives you confidence. hold on to the truth, to prevent swerving
Ayah 144:
- oh you who believe, dont take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers.
- do you wish to give Allah a clear proof of evidence against you?
- do you wish to give a proof against you?
Ayah 145:
- indeed the hypocrites will be in the lowest level of the bottom of hellfire. lowest depth of the hellfire. after which there is nothing.
- Hell has levels.
-
- jahanuum
- lagha
- Khutama
- Khair
- thakur
- Jaheem
- hawihah
- دَّرْكِ = lowest depth. Right at the depth of something(Hell has 7 levels or 7 depths)1. Jahannam2. Ladha3. Hutama4. Sa’ir5. Saqar6. Jaheem7. Hawiyah
- Hawiyah is the lowest. Hypocrites will be at the bottom of the lowest level of hell
- • Hawiyah is the lowest depth of the Hell fire and the Hypocrites will be in the lowest grade of the fire – even lower than the Kafireen.
- lowest depths of the fire
- hypocrites will be there. bc of their lowliness. they fell for their desires in the world. so they will be in the lowest level of level
- they lived for the benefits of this world only. they degrade themselves. they satisfy themselves for the inferior.
- So ask what are we living for.
- And never will you find for them any helper.
Ayah 146:
- Except for those who repent.
- and they correct themselves.
- Hold fast to Allah, and cling to Allah: do what you are doing for the sake of Allah, exclusively.
- think, what can people give? what can Allah give you?
- protection is for those who do the above.
- and are sincere in their religion for Allah.
- they are the believers and soon Allah will grant them a great reward: Jannat.
Ayah 147:
- What would Allah do with your punishment, if you are grateful and believe?
- He will not punish you if you have these.
- gratitude and iMaan.
- How often do we remember Allah?
- How often do we do things while remembering Allah.
- And ever is Allah appreciative and All knowing.
-
Allah does not like the public mention of evil. should not be openly and out loud publicly and promoting it out in the open. of evil actions and speech.
-
Evil speech, discussion about injustice.
-
To invoke someone, or to curse someone, against Allah. is wrong too. Dont go around cursing people.
-
Except by one who has been wronged. the oppressed, he has the permission to complain about the injustice done to him or her. but also to a limit. if it will help, than yes he/she should speak about it. but not too the point that the oppressed becomes an oppressor. don’t exceed limits.
-
But to mock insult, joke humiliate someone is not allowed. for no reason is not allowed. its like backbiting
-
if someone is openly doing something wrong, there is no reason to publicize or openly mention it. unless the injustice or wrong is being done to a person, this person can vocalize it openly.
-
And Allah is all knowing and hearing.
-
A woman came and complained to the Prophet Sal. about her husband and the solution was revealed by Allah in Surah Mujadilah : 10
-
there is allowance to speak about it to others or publicly if there is injustice being done. If it will help or make difference. than it is allowed to speak about it.
-
this woman’s case is mentioned in the Quran, this is the honor and respect given to women.
-
Generally to dishonor, to defame, to insult, to mock, make fun of, to curse, to swear is not allowed
-
2nd meaning is to curse someone except one who is wronged him without transgressing the limits
-
Al-Hasan Al-Basri commented:One should not invoke Allah for curses against whoever wronged him. Rather he should supplicate “O Allah help me against him to take my right from him”
-
In another narration, Al-Hasan said, “Allah has allowed one to invoke Him against whoever wronged him without transgressing the limits.”
-
Abu Hurairah (RA) said, “A man said, ‘Messenger of Allah, I have a neighbour who does me harm.’ He said, ‘Go and take your things out into the road.’ He took his things out into the road. People gathered around him and asked, ‘What’s the matter?’ He replied, ‘A neighbour of mine injures me and I mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He told me, “Take your things out into the road.”‘ They began to say, ‘O Allah, curse him! O Allah, disgrace him!’ When the man heard that, he came out to him and said, ‘Go back to your home. By Allah, I will not harm you.'” (Bukhari : Adab Al Mufrad)
-
Prophet Sal. said :“When a servant of Allah curses something, the curse goes up towards the sky whereupon the doors of the sky are closed on it. After that it comes down towards the earth whereupon the doors of the earth are closed upon it. After that it goes right, then left but as it finds no access anywhere, it returns to the one who was cursed. If he is really deserving of it, it falls on him otherwise it returns back to the one who said it and falls on him”Abu Dawud
-
Hadith“Whatever words are uttered by those who curse each other, then he who started it will carry the burden thereof unless the one who was wronged transgresses the limit”Abu Dawud
-
If you show some good, openly or pardon an offense or forgive the person.
-
so there is allowance to retaliate or revenge, remove evil with good, but forgiving is better. this is of nobility, shows true noble character.
-
then Allah is pardoning and powerful.
-
An authentic Hadith states:«مَا نَقَصَ مَالٌ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ، وَلَا زَادَ اللهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوٍ إِلَّا عِزًّا، وَمَنْ تَوَاضَعَ للهِ رَفَعَهُ الله»“No charity shall ever decrease wealth, and Allah will only increase the honor of a servant who pardons, and he who is humble for Allah’s sake, then Allah will elevate his grade”Muslim
-
Prophet Sal. said :“I guarantee a house in Paradise for a person who gives up argument and disputes even if he is on the truth and I also guarantee a house in the middle of Paradise for a person who gives up lying (false statements) even while joking and I also guarantee a house in the highest part of Paradise for a person who has a high standard of character”
-
indeed those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers.
-
and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers.
-
and they say we believe in some and some we dont.
-
and they wish to adopt a middle way. this is a type of hypocrisy. between kufr and imaan, they want a middle path.
-
this type of way will not be accepted from anyone.
-
there are types of different believers: some believe in Allah and not the messengers, or some messengers or not in others.
-
they are those who deny the truth or disbelieve in the truth. these are the real unbelievers.
-
and for them Allah has prepared a humiliating punishment.
-
punishment here and in the hereafter.
-
they will be put in humiliation wherever they are.
-
But those who believe in Allah and all His messengers. and believe in all of them. and didn’t discriminate between them.
-
to them He will give His rewards. for believing. their due rewards. they will get from Allah.
-
And Allah is all forgiving and all merciful.
-
unless we believe in all messengers, our imaan is not complete. denying one and is like denying all.
-
People of A’ad: denied the messenger that came to them. that means they denied messengership and so they basically denied all.
-
The people of the scripture ask you ( Prophet Muhamad saw), this is referring to the jews in Madinah.
-
they would come to ask questions over and over
-
they would ask for a book to be brought down for them, from the Heaven.
-
they wanted a book that was addressed specifically to someone among them, that would confirm the messengership of prophet Muhammad (saw).
-
they had asked of Musa (as) even greater than that. they made greater demands from him: they asked: show us Allah outright.
-
So the thunderbolt struck them for their wrong doing. took them while looking on. and they died and then they were revived.
-
the greater the sin the greater the punishment.
-
They also then took the calf for worship. As an Ilah.
-
they crossed the sea, passed a township saw them worshipping a calf, so they ask Musa (as) to make them a calf to worship as well.
-
so despite having just seen clear signs, clear revelations, they still asked for this calf!
-
And still Allah pardoned them
-
and He gave Musa (as) clear authority. (sultanan)
-
refers to the strong character of Musa, he had a firmness in character. solid proofs.
-
every Juz mentions Musa (as)
-
Musa (as) had to deal with a very rebellious nation.
-
and We raised over the bani israel, the mt Tur. over them, like it was a dark cloud. like it would fall on them
-
this was a significant event. this was after parting the sea, were told to go to a city and fight and they back out, wandered in the desert for 40 years. then Musa is called to Mt. TUR for teachings, and they took the calf for worship in the mean time.
-
Their covenant to hold on to the book, they had left or broken, so the MT. TUR was held over them for breaking this covenant.
-
so now the MT. TUr is held over them, for refusal of their covenant.
-
and told them to enter jerusalem, in a humble way. instead they entered proudly.
-
We told them to take rest on Sabbath. not to work on that day.
-
took from a strong covenant.
-
But still again they broke their covenant. and worked on that day.
-
And We cursed them and deprived them of mercy for all this. for breaking of convenient and disbelieving in Allah.
-
and for killing prophets for no reason.
-
they would say: our hearts are wrapped up. ( meaning we have so much knowledge we dont need more, or our hearts are veiled so we don’t understand.)
-
Rather Allah has stamped/sealed their hearts on the accounts of their disbelief.
-
they have no faith, except for a few of them.
-
we need to keep a check on our hearts. and what is it that we are allowing to penetrate it. how Imaan do we have. check the levels of our imaan.
-
its due to someone’s wrong doing that they become deprived of guidance. Allah is not unjust to anyone.
-
they went to such a disbelief that they were making false accusation, and slander against Maryam (as).
-
this was another mistake of their.
-
chain of crimes. mistake after mistake
-
they would accuse her of fornication. this was completely wrong.
-
when they slandered her, she said nothing, and pointed to her baby (Isa) as. And the baby, Isa (as) spoke up.
-
they would say: we have killed the messiah. Isa, son of Maryam, the messenger of Allah.
-
they would say this in jest. they had no respect for the messenger of Allah.
-
they were openly proclaiming that they killed him
-
But they didn’t kill or crucify him.
-
but someone else was placed to resemble Isa (as). another to look like him.
-
Allah raised Isa (as) body and soul up to the heavens. so he is not dead.
-
and indeed those who disagree or differ over it, the killing of Isa (as), are in doubt about it. due to lack of knowledge, they are doubt and confusion over this matter.
-
there are 12 versions over what happened to him, which is indeed true that they are in confusion over what happened to him.
-
they for sure did not kill him for sure. Certainly they didn’t kill him.
-
and there are none of the people of the book, that will believe about Isa (as) ’s own death.
-
when Isa (as) descends he will invite people to islam, all the people of the book will accept him.
-
this will happen before his true death.
-
numerous hadith that state he will return.
-
and on the DOJ he (Isa) will be against them ( the people of the book). a strong witness.
-
as a punishment in this world, certain foods were made haram for the jews. because of their sins.
-
some good pure food was made unlawful for them.
-
good food that was lawful for them, it was now made unlawful for them. due to their disbelief and behavior.
-
and for averting a lot of people away from Allah.
-
and they do this a lot. they frequently stop people from coming close to Allah, towards the way of Allah.
-
to not let people walk in the way of Allah and His Deen.
-
For example the Prophet Sal. left his home to tell the people about the night of Qadr but he saw 2 people disputing and said “the knowledge has been lifted from me”
-
Disputing and quarrelling, fights, differences can be a means of depriving a person of goodness in this world and the Hereafter
-
And for them taking the Riba, in spite of it being prohibited.
-
and eating from wealth that is false and wrong.
-
and We have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
-
But those who strong and firm and well grounded and well rooted, in Knowledge. from them.
-
Knowledge of Quran and Sunnah. this is the first step. (this is the trunk of the tree.)
-
this takes time, weeks, months, years, etc. takes time to learn and study with consistency.
-
this will increase our imaan. to increase our good deeds.
-
And those who truly believe in what was sent down. believe in what was revealed. the Quran.
-
and what was revealed before you.
-
and the establishment of the prayer.
-
and givers of zaKat.
-
and those who believe in Allah and the Last Day
-
for them, soon is a great reward from Allah.
-
So Abdulla bin Salaam and some others recognized the truth and they accepted it and they submitted themselves to the truth and spent their lives according to Allah’s Will
-
Ibn `Abbas said, “This Ayah was revealed concerning `Abdullah bin Salam, Tha`labah bin Sa`yah, Zayd bin Sa`yah and Asad bin `Ubayd who embraced Islam and believed what Allah sent Muhammad with.
-
Oh Muhammad, We sent revelations to you, just as We sent revelations to Noah, and those prophets who came after him. (Idris, Shoaib, etc.)
-
We also sent revelations to Ibrahim, Ismael, Isaac, Yaquub and his descendants. (meaning the tribes of Bani israel)
-
And to Isa, and Ayuub, and Jonah, and Aaron, and solomon,
-
and We gave David, Pslams (Zabur). Zabur: was compilations of scriptures and scrolls, did not contain legal rulings. praise of Allah, prayers, etc, but no legal rulings. Prophet David would read it with great beauty that mountains and birds would join in praise and would listen over him. His voice would echo in the mountains.
-
Jews would raise many objections against Islam. and against Muhammad (saw). didn’t accept his messenger-ship and the revelation that came down to him.
-
Allah decides who He will reveal to, how and when.
-
Bani Israel would even kill prophets.
-
The underlying principal and base of their mission, the Aqeedah, of all the prophets was the same.
-
and some messengers We narrated upon you and from before you and some messengers We did not narrate upon you. (Prophet Muhammad (saw))
-
There are some mentioned and some not.
-
The 25 Prophets mentioned in the Quran
-
And Allah Spoke to Musa a definite speaking. Meaning direct speech. Meaning directly to Musa (as), this was honor to him
-
Allah has preferred some messengers over others.
-
1. Adam2. Nuh3. Idrees4. Hud5. Salih
-
6. Ibrahim7. Lut8. Ismail9. Isaac10. Yakub
-
11. Yusuf12. Ayub13. Shuaib14. Musa 15. Harun
-
16. Yunus17. Dawud18. Sulaiman19. Iliays20. Al Yasa
-
21. Zackeriya22. Yahya23. Isa24. Zul Qifl25. Muhammed
-
Messengers have two main duties:
-
-
give good news to those who do good and righteous deeds.
-
warning. agains the punishment of Allah. those who are defiant and disobedient.
-
-
So that mankind will have no argument against Allah after the messengers.
-
massagers are proof that He sent good news and warnings.
-
and He, Allah is all mighty and all wise.
-
But Allah bears witness that which He has revealed to you. (Muhammad (saw))
-
and that is sufficient. Allah’s testimony is sufficient.
-
He revealed the Quran to Muhammad (saw). with His knowledge.
-
that was His decision.
-
He has sent it down with His knowledge.
-
Nobody else has this knowledge this vast.
-
Allah understands the needs of people.
-
Allah is sufficient as a witness.
-
Indeed those who disbelieve.
-
and avert people from way of Allahs path. would prevent others from believing as well.
-
this is referring to the Jewish scholars.
-
they became a hinderance for others to believe and follow the prophet Muhammad (saw)
-
and in fact they have certainly strayed very far.
-
due to arrogance of the Jews.
-
Indeed those who disbelieve and commit wrong/zhulm/unjust.
-
meaning they denied the Prophet Muhammad (saw) despite having the knowledge, having the Truth.
-
never will Allah forgive them, if they die in this state.
-
nor will He guide them on the right path. that leads to jannaH.
-
Except the path of Hell, they will live there forever.
-
and that, keeping people in fire, without escape, is very easy for Allah.
-
the Fire of Hell is 69 parts more than the worldly fire. more stronger, more hotter. Each part is as hot as this worldly fire.
-
Oh mankind, the messenger has come to you with the truth.
-
Deen and Quran.
-
from your Lord. from Allah
-
so believe it is better for you in terms of this world and the hereafter.
-
But if you disbelieve its your loss.
-
than indeed all belongs to Allah what is in the heavens and the earth.
-
Allah is ever knowing and all wise.
-
رَّبِّكُمْ O mankind! Verily, there has come to you the Messenger with the truth from your Lord.
-
The Quran carries the Message of Allah to all the human beings – to all mankind wherever they may be and they are it’s direct addressees in this verse
-
Oh people of the book, scripture ( jews and christians)
-
do not commit excess in your religion. dont go overboard, extremes. dont exaggerate.
-
to exaggerate someones position more than it really is. for example: making messenger the status of divine, like an angel or that of God.
-
This disease of excessiveness.
-
Specifically the Christians are addressed: The people of the Book are addressed because this disease of exceed was found in the People of the Book – The Christians elevated Isa Al. to son of God or God himself and the Jews elevate Uzair as son of Allah
-
Today people elevate the rank of Prophet Muhammad (saw) to the likes of God. this is wrong!
-
We worship Allah, not people or prophets.
-
Prophet Sal. said :“Do not exaggerate in my praise as was done by the Christians in the case of Isa, son of Maryam Al. Beware I am only a servant so call me a servant of Allah and His Messenger”Bukhari
-
Prophet Sal. said :“Allah cursed the Jews and Christians because they took the graves of their Prophetsas places of worship.”
-
Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Sal. said :“Do not make my grave a place of worship. Allah has cursed these people who has made the graves of Prophets a place of worship”
-
Prophet Sal said :Allah curses the Jews and Christians they made the graves of their prophets as a place of worshipping. Their state was such that if there was a pious man amongst them they would build mosques on their grave after they die and they would make their pictures and they will be the worst people on the day of Qayama”and dont say about Allah, except the truth, (that He has no partners) dont say He has partner or child.
-
Isa was son of Maryam, a messenger of Allah and His word, meaning His word, His permission and that was all that was needed.
-
He said : Be , and it is.
-
this word He casted it to Maryam
-
and a spirit from Him: meaning this Ruh was from Allah, because Allah gave permission that life that ruH to come, to be given. Coming from or directed by Allah. Meaning Allah gave permission, He directed this, He allowed this.
-
meaning Isa was a possessor of life, he was human. He is being created at the command of Allah. this was His order
-
there is a difference between Creator and creation. Creation is NOT part of the Creator.
-
Allah is above all. He is not found in everything.
-
So believe in Allah and His messengers and don’t say Trinity/Three.
-
Stop, saying that. Indeed that is better for you.
-
Allah is single, one, is God.
-
Glorified is He.
-
above is He in need of having a child.
-
for Him is whatever and all that is the heavens and Earth.
-
Sufficient is Allah as disposer of affairs.
-
Isa never minded being called the slave of Allah. never was he in disdain to be known as servant
-
nor did the angels mind, near Allah.
-
whoever disdains, from His worship and acts proudly and is arrogant,
-
these will be all brought before Him together. these people.
-
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them fully their wages/rewards and He will give more increased from His bounty and grace.
-
and for those who disdained and were arrogant, He will punish them with a painful punishment and they will not find for them anyone for protection or help, besides Allah.
-
oh mankind, it has come to you a clear proof, from Allah
-
and it Quran has been sent down to you a glorious light, that shows you the right way clearly.
-
So those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him/to it ( the Quran)
-
those who rely and trust Him.
-
The Quran is the truth and so hold onto it, in light and darkness.
-
Soon Allah will cover/admit them with His mercy and grace/bounty from Him. (meaning He will issue it to them)
-
and He will guide them towards the straight path.
-
Umar bin Al-Khattab. It is recorded in the Two Sahihs that `Umar said, “There are three matters that I wished the Messenger of Allah had explained to us, so that we could abide by his explanation. (They are: the share in the inheritance of) the grandfather, the Kalalah and a certain type of Riba.” Imam Ahmad recorded that Ma`dan bin Abi Talhah said that `Umar bin Al-Khattab said, “There is nothing that I asked the Messenger of Allah about its meaning more than the Kalalah, until he stabbed me with his finger in my chest and said,«يَكْفِيكَ آيَةُ الصَّيْفِ الَّتِي فِي آخِرِ سُورَةِ النِّسَاء»(The Ayah that is in the end of Surat An-Nisa’ should suffice for you.)”
-
They request from you a legal ruling.
-
Allah gives you a ruling regarding those who have no ascendants or descendants
-
If a man dies, leaving no child, (nor parents either) and only a sister. then for her, is half of what he has left. wife gets a share.
-
the rest goes to: share of the nearest male relation.
-
and if a woman dies, with only a brother, he inherits everything.
-
But if there are two sisters and no brothers. They will share 2/3 of what he left. and the rest will go to closest living male relatives.
-
if there are
-
Allah makes clear for you His commandments, so that you dont go astray.
-
matters of inheritance He has decided. so deprive any one of their rights.
-
Allah is knowing of All things.
-
so accept His decision and be happy with it.
-
so again:
-
#2 If a woman dies leaving one brother• If a woman dies leaving no children and she has one brother – he will get the whole inheritance left by hero Eg. if a man dies his wives the their share and the son get the balance• If she has a surviving parent, her brother would not inherit anything. • If there is someone who gets a fixed share in the inheritance, such as a husband or half brother from the mother’s side, they take their share and the rest goes to the brother.
-
If a Kalala man or woman dies leaving 2 sisters (real or half from father’s side)• A man or woman dies leaving 2 sisters or more either real sisters (common parents) or half sisters from father’s side (common father) : 2/3 will be shared amongst all of them left by the Kalala• Remaining 1/3 will be given to Asaab (closest male relatives) if any• In the absence of Asaab, then this 1/3 too will be given to the sisters to distribute it equally amongst them
-
#4 If a Kalala leaves a combination of brothers and sisters• If a man or woman dies leaving a combination of brothers and sisters either real (common parents) or half brothers and sisters from father’s side only (common father) • The sisters will be given their share and brothers will get double of that – just as when a father dies and the son gets double of the daughter• In this case where the Kalala has brothers and sisters with common parents, then half brothers and sisters don’t inherit anything
-
#1 Man leaves behind one sister• If a Kalala man dies leaving one real sister (common parents) or one half sister from the father’s side (common father) but no child, after settling the preferential rights, debts etc. the sister gets half of what he left• Other will half will be given to the closest male relatives (Asaab) • If he leaves behind a child, then the sister does not get anything• If there are no Asaba (closest male relatives) alive, then this too will be given back to the sister of the deceased
